What surgery did you have/are you hoping to have? I had Lap Gastric Bypass Surgery 12/05 What is a big question you are wondering about? Hmmm...I can't think of any off hand. What is something that is going REALLY well for you? Well, three weeks ago, I would have said exercise, but since we moved I have been AWFUL! So, I hope to get back on the wagon. What is something you are struggling with? Eating things with sugar...I don't dump and of course I tried things. So, my advice to the newbies, NEVER, EVER try sugar and then you will never know! Do you attend a support group? If so, please share the information and times etc. No, but I'd like to.

I had Lap Band on Feb 1st!!! I guess I am wondering about food ideas I am almost in stage 2 (mushy foods YEH!!) I am feeling great thus far and down 17 pounds. Last night I had to cook and serve at a SWEETHEARTS banquet at my sons school for 160 people bacon wrapped chicken breasts, 2 delisious salads and pasta and plenitful desserts I cooked served and when all the ladies sat down to eat I left STARVING to go home and eat my pototo soup THAT WAS A TOUGH ONE the whole time I was thining I wonder if I could eat this so that it was in puree form and have no trouble but I made it so I am proud of that. I am plannign to attend one Feb 22nd. Kristie

What surgery did you have/are you hoping to have? RNY - lap on June 8, 2006 What is a big question you are wondering about? Right now, can I still have the stomach flu- and is that why I feel so sh**y (its going around school, that and influenza A and B) What is something that is going REALLY well for you? Weight loss. I am losing more slowly now, but I am OK with that. What is something you are struggling with? Carbs...newbies, don't start eating the breads, don't try any candy, don't take a taste because once you realize you can do it, you are more tempted to cheat!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Do you attend a support group? If so, please share the information and times etc. We meet every third Monday of the month at the Sanford Hospital (SVH previously) in the lower level. Sometimes they have speakers, othertimes its just us and our leader It starts at 7:00, but many times they have informational meetings prior to the support group for people looking into WLS. I like to attend those too - and have learned a lot through them. Maybe I'll see you all there.

I had surgery Dec. 6. I had one fill on Feb. 6. I can not tell any difference and am getting nervous. When is it going to kick in? I have lost about 20lbs, but most of that was in the first month.

Hi there! Thought this was an interesting way to get people talking and it looks like it is working! I will be twelve weeks out this Tuesday and I am down 57lbs. Tomorrow is weigh in day so we will see how that goes! I had Gastric Bypass December 5 2006. My question is..how many of you had plastic surgery after the weight loss? Right now the thing that is going great for me is that I can actually keep food down now and excercising it going great....I find it very calming. I am struggling with what others think about me and the fact that I had the surgery..I don't know why..but I am.. I do not attend a support group...I would like to, however in my line of work, free time is very rare.

You definately need to look at a support group. It has been the best thing for me and I too have trouble with free time. Between teaching, getting my masters, being mother, wife and grandmother, as well as active in church, SFEA, Reading assoc., and PTA, I have little time, but this is ONE thing I do for myself. Please, please, take time to go to a support group. If you are close to sioux falls, we meet once a month (third Monday) at 7 at Sanford Hospital(SVH). Call if you have questions....I'll pm you my phone.

Hi Becky and the rest of you South Dakotans! I had RNY (lap) on July 17, 2006. My big question is: Will I be able to keep the weight off? I have lost 100 lbs. I attend a support group in Rapid City. We meet the first Tuesday of each month. This is a new group and the March 6th meeting will be our second meeting. The first meeting was great and all of the people attending were a lot of fun. If anyone is interested in this support group, please email me! Kathryn

Hi Becky, My name is Luanne, but Lue for short. I had the lap-band surgery Jan, 18th of 2007 in Mexico by Dr. Pedro Kuri. I researched this for six months before I made my decision, & do not regret it. However, the place that I go to for fills is around $300.00. I was wondering what the fills cost in Sioux Falls. I can fly back down to Mexico because Dr. Kuri does them for free. My 1st fill was one month ago today & it was only 1cc & I have not lost a lb. since. I have lost 17 lbs. to date though. Also, the support group near me has disbanded for some reason. Any help would be greatly apprecieated. Thank you, Lue

Hi Everyone!! I am scheduled to be banded next Wednesday, May 9th. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I am really hoping this works for me!! I was approved the beginning of April, but decided to wait to have the surgery until finals were over. I'm a full time student and mom of three so things are busy!!! My husband works full time and goes to school full time also. I figured summer would be the perfect time to fit all this in!!! I'm so glad I found this website for help and ideas!! ~Lori
