Starting a support group in Rapid City!!!
I am in the process of starting a WLS support group in Rapid City. If you are interested in info about this support group, please email me. [email protected]
Maghan, It is my understanding that there is a obesity support group at the hospital. It is for all obese people but not specifically for those having had or interested in weight loss surgery. I have paid for and am scheduled to receive Support Group Leaders Training through OH.
I love Dr. Suficool, he did my husbands colonoscopy and it seemed like all of the nurses really liked him to ( and I think that is saying alot if the nurses really like a doctor). I would like to have a planning meeting tomorrow morning at Starbucks. Could you come? Kathy
I won't be able to make it. Sorry! I am on call all this weekend and would hate to commit to something that I won't be able to attend.
I too love Suffy! I also work with him. I work in the Operating Room at the hospital with him. He is one of my favorites and I couldn't have imagined going to anybody else but him!
Maghan, We had a planning meeting this morning and it was a great group to start. We decided to call it "Black Hills Weight Loss Surgery Support Group" and it will meet on the first Tuesday of each month. I talked to Dr. Trotter (the Chiropractor) who is in charge of the current support group. He said that it hasn't been meeting because of poor turn out. He offered to let us use the room at the hospital that is reserved for his support group. Could you send me your email address so I can include you when I send out a notice or information? Please call me at 390-7386.Kathy
Cool. I will keep that in mind as we are planning to move to Rapid in the fall. My sis is transfering to BHSU and I want to take my preschooler to Rapid so I can get her involved in activities. I'm tired of being so isolated here in Fort Thompson (no ballet, gymnastics, or preschool here for her to attend). There are no support groups here either, and I've thought of starting one myself. Anyway, by the time the move takes place, I hope (God willing) to be post-op and on my way to better health and more activity.
