Topic: HELP with SC Medicaid
I've been looking all over the net and cant find the answer to these questions...
What are the requirements to have WLS with SC Medicaid?
What types of WLS does it cover?
My husband and I are both considering WLS surgery...we know that there is a 6 month requirement of doctor monitored weight loss....we both have that, just with another dr in NC. My husband has 4 years and I have 1 year. Does that count for the 6 months?
What part(s) of the process does SC Medicaid NOT cover?
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Topic: Newbie!
Hello everyone! I've been relatively active on the VSG boards since deciding to have WLS, but just discovered the SC board this morning. I'm in Greenville, hoping to have surgery through Bariatric Solutions. I'm just starting the process, as the insurance Ithat will cover the surgery doesn't kick in until January, but my information session is in early December, and I hope to get started as soon as possible after that.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only upstater here!

I'm really new to this board, but I plan on going with Bariatric Solutions for my surgery as well. Two of my coworkers had RNYs done through Dr. Bour, but I plan to have VSG. Not sure of my surgeon or date yet since I do my first group session in December (insurance that will cover surgery doesn't kick in until January).

Topic: RE: Plastic surgery
I went to the MUSC WLS support group meeting in September where their guest speaker was a plastic surgeon (sorry, can't remember his name but he's been their guest speaker before) and he does a lot of the MUSC WLS patients. . I went overseas for my gastric bypass so I didn't use MUSC however they welcome anyone at their semi-monthly meetings and I've been to a couple of them. I had my surgery in April, 2009 and I'm 13lbs from my goal weight so plastic surgery is VERY high on my wish list and this was a meeting wasn't going to miss.
Anyway, the Dr. did a breakdown of the costs: Face Lift: 4k - 8k (cost depends on if you're just doing neck/cheeks or also eye work); Arms 3k; Breast reduction/lift: 6k; Beltlipectomy (combo of tummy tuck, thigh lift, buttock lift + lipo) 8k; just the tummy tuck: 5.5k. These were ballpark figures so it could be a little more or less. According to him, East Cooper wants to become a 'regional hub' for plastic surgery so their rates are a lot better than at MUSC which is why he's been doing more surgeries there and these costs are based on East Cooper rates (I think I remember he said its about 25% - 30% cheaper than at MUSC).

hey! I am brand new to OH. I hope to have RNY in mid-December with Dr. Scott. My paperwork went in last week to BC/BS.
I need to build a support group here, as my closest friends are a couple of states away. I started to blog my weight loss journey today - please let me know someone is out there!
