Hey Jess! Hope you are doing good. I wanted to let you know that I am alway thirsty. When I came home I was able to start with the puree foods. I always feel thirsty. I drink lots of water, I just feel that I am still not getting enough. I do know that when I eat soups that is just liquid I some times feel full and other times I don't. Just wanted to say best to you and welcome to the losers bench! I am a little over 2 weeks out and I have lost about 20lbs.

Congrats on being on the loser's bench...I know you've waited for a few months! Glad to hear you are doing well. Hang in there. I had a slight full sensation when I ate pudding..but not liquids..like broth, or water, or crystal light. Everyone is different.. Just be careful not to "over" drink.
Take one day at a time!

I understand exactly what you're going through. It's amazing how much food is associated with socializing. When my wife had her birthday (1 week post-op) the family takes her out to dinner to celebrate. Luckily for me, I just went off clear liquids and could have soupy mashed potatoes. We took her to Longhorn steak house, my kids said "but daddy, you can't have anything", I told them "oh yes I can". I took some chicken broth with me, ordered a "naked" baked potato along with a bowl. I scooped out about 1/2 of the potato and put it in the bowl with the chicken broth and made my mashed potatoes. It really felt great to be able to eat with the family to celebrate. The funny thing is I didn't even crave the desert (although I wanted the steak real bad). I'm learning to be able to go out to socialize and look for items that are "kosher". Sometimes you have to look hard, and lots of times the staff is more than willing to accomodate you. Good luck!

I'm a little further out than you, but I also had that same feeling. It took a while for the "feeling" to come back. You're doing fine. Get yourself some sugar-free jello and some sugar free popcycles. Also the chicken broth helps. I couldn't wait till I could move up to puddings & stuff. Just be glad that the clear liquids are only for a week. Good luck on your journey! Don't try to force anything, just listen to your NUT and do what they say and you'll do fine.

Hi Jess,
I never had the feeling of fullness either. It took me almost a year before I started feeling full. I asked many people about this and they never experienced it. Just be careful so you don't get sick from eating more than you should since you have no trigger. Good luck on your journey and keep us posted.

Topic: Home with some questions
I got to come home yesterday and I am feeling pretty ok considering I just had major surgery. The only thing is that I feel like I can drink alot and I don't feel full. I have been trying to stick to the 4oz. per hour though because I don't want to hurt myself but at the hospital I heard other people talking about how full they felt and I just don't feel full. Has anyone else felt this way? I don't feel hungry but I am not getting that little trigger that says ok you need to stop now like I thought I would get.
