If you decide on Lap Band, I'd suggest looking at the experience factor.  They haven't been doing Lap Band for very long. MUSC is absolutely the best for RNY.

Yes, it will take you a little while to get your energy back JoAnn.  Be patient, rest all you can and get your liquids in.  Don't expect too much of yourself, you have had a major surgery.

Sweetie,    Just sleep and sip.  I wouldn't try anything more than popcicles or shakes for now.  Your body has been through a MAJOR surgery so all that you have to do it take care of JoAnn Good Luck mary

Today is my 6th day post op, but I can barely keep my eyes open, All I want to do is sleep.  I have been sipping all day. I tried some oatmeal this am, big mistake, also sugarfree popsickles.  But I feel tired and all I can do is sleep, is this bad,  I did not sleep any in the hospital 5 days, my husband stayed with me and did not bring his cpap, so he snored real loud, he slept, Let me know if this is okay to have  a sleep day?? JoAnn

Hi Wendy.  Boy, you have been through a lot.  I am very limited on my protein recipies, but wanted to tell you to take care and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Oh, one thing I do is use a chocolate protein drink with ice and water and add a teaspoon of peanut butter -  YUM.  I sometime add a banana too for potassium.

Hi JoAnn, welcome to the losing side.  The first couple of weeks are rough, but hang in there and you will be fine.  I found sugar free popsicles were a good way to get some fluid and satisfied me.  As they say, just sip, sip, sip and you will be fine.  Don't worry about the protein amounts, etc. for now, that will come. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi JoAnn, I too had my surgery by Dr. Byrne.  Mine was 4/30/08.  I was to be lap, but ended up at the very end of surgery to be open.  So I had a double whammy.  I almost 6 weeks out and still having pain from it.  Still kinda hard to stand straight with out it being really tight.   I never had a bowel problem, but as for belching, I am still doing it.  I even get the hick-ups almost every day!  As they all say it does get better in time.  Just remember to drink all that you can.  Take care and welcome to the losing side!
