Had chest pains yesterday am, called Dr Byrne ofc, was instructed to go to the chest pain center at MUSC.  Very nice and the staff was great.  Anyway, after hours of tesiting, finally had another swallow test, seems as though my esophagus has decided to stop contracting and has dialated.  Radiologist says he never saw this before.  This is what the chest pain was.  Anyone else have this??  Dr put me on reglan, but I cant start until tomm, interacts with another one of my meds.  I think its a direct result of the EGD I had last monday.  The opening to my stomach is still inflammed.  Still drinking protein shakes!! no food still.  What now??

   I am going to see Dr. Harvey today for a tummy tuck consult, and I know several of you have used him.    I am looking for what I need to know.    What did you think about him and his bed side mannor?  Most of all, how did the surgery turn out?  Would you use him again?  How bad was the pain?  How long did it last?  Tell me about the drain tube?  Did you get the results that you were looking for?  If you had it to do again, would you use someone else?  Please tell me who to, to consult with and who to stay away from.    I need the good --bad--ugly--and beautiful results. Welcome Allison!!!!! I am so glad that you have made this wonderful choice for yourself.  Remember, it is not always easy, but the end result is well worth it! Karen, I'm glad I don't have to do too much cooking right now.  Although I did have to make easy mac for my little one today and it was torture!  My problem is making my husband understand what I'm allowed to have right now.  He went to the store for me and came out with some really wrong stuff.  For one thing, I told him the rule about no sugar stuff in the first four ingredients.  He paid no attention. He bought Yoplait Light (which is on the list) but the second ingredient is high fructose corn syrup!  He also saw Jello's brand name and bought pudding instead of gelatin.  Meanwhile, I'm subsisting on sugar free popsicles (he got that right) and chicken broth!  Ok...enough whining. My surgery is at 2:30 so I'll be several hours behind you.  We'll have to cheer each oher on!

Don't know if anybody is still around from when I was here before.  I was a patient of Dr. Bour over a year ago...went to tons of meetings, had all my appts, etc.  THEN, my 34 year old husband had to have double coronary artery bypass surgery in November 2007.  Because of that, I needed money and had to get a refund from Dr. Bour.  I switched to Dr. Ross.  Two weeks ago they scheduled me for RNY gastric bypass on July 14 but my insurance company lost its mind and even though I was approved for Dr. Bour, they didn't want to approve me for Dr. Ross.  Today (wow...talk about last minute!) I got the word that I am finally approved.  I'm on the whole clear liquid diet for a week thing right now and I am STARVING!!!!!!!!!! I'm scared, nervous, thrilled, excited, freaked out, giddy, and all that.  I keep looking at the before and after photos and I know it's worth it but I'm sure gonna miss food for the next few weeks. BTW, I'm going to the beach August 2-9.  That's 2 weeks post op.  Will I survive or should I plan on holding down a chair and nothing else for the trip?
