Well....I did it.  It hurt, (still does a little) the nasty drain is gross, and I had a German nurse in that hospital who was trained by Hitler's top torture man.  But I am apparently going to have to absolutely force myself to eat because I can't imagine wanting to put ANY food down there!  So far, the worst thing BY FAR was the swallow test.  That plastic-flavored contrast liquid had me gagging my head off but I survived.  I'll let you know a year from now if I have regrets!

Topic: RE: Lapband Surgery - How much weight do you lose
Hi Mama, I've lost all of my weight and now have a normal BMI.  That's about 80 pounds.  I wasn't concerned about losing weight fast.  The time will pass anyhow.  Losing more slowly allows your skin to shrink and makes the need for plastic surgery less likely.  It was important to me to be able to change my decision if it didn't work out.  I was concerned about the malabsorption associated with RNY also.  I think it's great that there are many options available because WLS isn't a one size fits all decision.  You might want to visit the Lap Band Board and ask lots of questions.  People there are very nice and friendly.  Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Hi, Ron!

Welcome to SC. I've only been through Newberry onmy way to Myrtle Beach, so I don't know much about the town, but I've heard it's nice.  I live in Easley...near Greenville.  Greenville (especially downtown) is a hopping place...full of enegry.  You'll have to drive up and spend the weekend here sometime.  Probably 50 miles away from you, but so worth it.

Welcome again...hope you'll enjoy it here.  On the upside to the heat, our winter's are pretty mild.

Take care!

Wanda
