Thanks! I did call my doctors office and got a RX for Diflucan which is helping. Apparently I'm just very easy to develop things like this, guess always have been. Getting better each day...woohoo!

Hello,
I have read that a few folks on the board have had thrush - I did not. You do need to call the doc.
I was instructed to get in 60 oz of fluid daily. It was really hard! SF popsicles helped me so much, although they are not much volume (I think 60cc)? Anyway, my NUT likes to tell us to keep fluid with you and sip,sip,sip.......as far as protein, I also struggled. I felt so full like you describe. When I went for transiiton nutrition class at four weeks, I was way behind most of the folks there. I was not getting in near enough.
The bullets also helped me. I just sipped them straight to avoid adding to the volume.
Just remember, it gets so much easier as time passes. The first few weeks were the worst. It's all uphill from now! Take care and congrats!!

1.) No, I don't remember getting it. I've heard some other people have had it though. I'm sure its not a problem.
2.) I think when I first started drinking the liquids at home, I was only able to get 48oz in a day. As time went on, I was able to do more. The shakes and soups kinda helped but the shakes always made me sick, so I stopped making them. Even the protein shakes were making me sick. I ended up drinking the protein waters from Special K to get the fluid and protein.
3.) Let's not even talk about the protein! I had such a hard time with that. My #1 food for protein was chicken. Chicken salad, soup, mixed with pasta, rice; I know the starch was supposed to be last, but that seemed to be the only way I could get the protein.
I'm sorry this wasn't much help, but I'm still going through right along with you.

Topic: Had EGD yesterday.
Hi guys!
I had my EGD yesterday. Dr. Bour performed the procedure. I have to say that ithere was really nothing to it. I don't really know what I went there expecting...but it was a piece of cake. DR. Bour came to my pre-op room and spoke for a second and put another bracelet on my arm. He told me that he was putting that bracelet on to show that I was over 21 because he was taking me to a kegger a little later. He's so cool. After that, I was rolled over to the GI lab, the assistant gave me the good drugs and all I remember is that Dr. Bour was rubbing my head and a cute little fella was rubbing my arm. I don't know what that was about.
I'm a little concerned because Dr. Bour told my husband that there were 3 areas where took biposies....said he wanted to check them out. I pray that it's nothing serious and that I have to cancel my surgery. The hubby said he had a worried look on his face.
I had a dream last night and father was there. My father has been dead since 1983...he passed away on my 16th biirthday. Anyway, last night was the first time that I remember actually dreaming about him and it was very vivid. He was the way he was before he got sick. He kept telling that it was going to be ok...and nothing else. I woke up with tears in my eyes and a very warm feeling,,,a sort of peace. Does that make sense?
Anyway, I'm babbling on. Take care!

Topic: RE: My date is Monday Sept. 8th
Well it's been two weeks and I am doing well. Just tired all the time and not sure what to eat. I had a bleed immediately after surgery I believe due to my hiatel hernia deciding to come back into play. I coughed up a lot of blood the first day, luckily I had a very attentive doctor. I had to have a blood transfusion and then we found out that the nurses were taking my blood samples from my pic line and it was causing my numbers to be low so thankfully he found this out during his investigation or I would have been heading back to the OR. All and all things are good. 31 pounds gone so far.
