Not sure where you are located. My surgeon is with Advanced Surgical Associates out of Myrtle Beach. He accepts Medicaid. The web site is www.advancedsurgicalassociates,com
Hope this helps.

Topic: Need Help - Cost/insurance related
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I need to find a surgeon that first, accepts medicaid and second, does not charge an extra $2000 that my insurance won't cover. I'm hoping that there is a surgeon out there that can do this. I need this surgery, but I simply cannot afford the $2000 extra since I am on SSI disability and money is a huge option. Thanks

I am going to refer you to my "uber-geek" daughter-in-law who walks right through computer issues. She is a site member and I will contact her for you.
Good Luck,

Hi Wanda! I will be sure in keep you my prayers but I'm sure everything is fine. When I had my meeting with Dr. Bour last week for the first time he told me that he likes to take care of his patients the way he would want his mother or sister or daughter or wife taken care of. (You gotta love that!!)
I know exactly what you are talking about with your dream. My father-in-law passed in Dec of last year and he was only 66. My husband and I both have had dreams about him. My husband had the most profound. His emotions have been like a roller coaster (understandably) and he was going through a very low point. He dreamed he and his dad were riding around in his dad's truck. His Dad was telling him much better he is and that heaven is a wonderful place. My husband felt the most peace upon waking the next morning and has not had a low that bad since. I know it was his Dad talking to him in a dream just like with you. What a wonderful comfort to know your Dad is still watching out for you!
Hugs!

If it makes you feel better, he takes a biopsy from everyone he does an EGD on. I beleive he is checking for helicobacter pylori bacteria, which I think is what causes stomach ulcers. I'm not positive about it but I think even if you have it that it can be treated. You can ask him about it when you see him for your follow up, but I don't think you have any thing to worry about. He is very cautious with all of his patients and wants to make sure everything is A1 before doing the surgery and if your about to undergo a RNY you definetly want the Dr. to be thorough and cover everything that can cause a problem after surgery.
I can definetly relate to your story about your dad, I had a very similar experience when I was a teenager and I had just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years, but I wasn't dreaming, my mom just seemed to appear to me and assured me by saying" don't worry baby, everything will be alright", and that same night I met my new boyfriend who is now my husband of 38 years. I still feel that both of my parents are always looking out for me and my family and always will be, even though they have been gone since I was 12 and 15 years old. I could tell you some stories about similar things like this that happened throughout my life but it would take all night, lol. You take care and I wish you all the best and just know you are in the best of hands with Dr. Bour.
Hugs!

Topic: Charlotte - South Side Support 9/30
For those of us on the south side of Charlotte (and Rock Hill, Fort Mill, etc.) that are finding it too difficult to drive into Uptown once a month, we've decided to get together and offer each other support!
Meetup Date: Tuesday, September 30th
Location: Panera Bread in Ballantyne Village
Tim: 7:00 pm
Purpose: Meet others in this area that face our particular challenges and joys
If you will be able to join us, please PM to me by the 28th so I'll know how many seats to reserve -- I'll try to get a place in the back around the fireplace (wouldn't it be great if we needed it!).

It makes perfect sense to me Wanda. My mother passed away in 2007 after a life of obesity and diabetes. She was only 71 at the time of her death. It was the catalyst that prompted me to finally do something about my situation.
You will be fine, don't worry. Dr. Bour is an excellent doctor and he will take great care of you.
I will keep you in my prayers and I'm sure everything will turn out OK with your EGD. Sometimes, you can just have a bacteria that needs to be cleared up with antibiotic before surgery. It's called H. Pylori or something like that.
