Topic: RE: Just posted pics of my new baby girl
I am new to this site, and new to using a forum, or whatever this type of communication is. I am in the process of being evaluated for RNY. Have already completed application for MUSC, completed the psych evaluation, and next week I go to the nutrition class.
Your post indicates you just had RNY in May of this year and you've lost 100 pounds since then? Is that correct?? I need this surgery (I currently weight close to 370...need to lose about 150 pounds), but I am somewhat fearful of failing (again) at losing weight. Can anyone give me input about problems they experience post-op or anything that wasn't expected that they endured. My surgery will be at MUSC, and I understand they are the best in the state of SC...but I am still afraid. Was the nutrition adjustment hard for you who have had RNY? Any advice or input would be most appreciated.
Thanks much,
Bill

Topic: Where to buy Duck and Quail???
So everytime I go to a nice restaurant there is duck or quail on the menu but they have to cook them so unhealthy :( So I am looking to buy my own birds to cook in a healthy way so that I can enjoy them again. Tonight I am making a cornish hen, I'll post that recipe later but hens just aren't the same. So if anyone knows of a place to buy them that would be great. When I was a kid we always got them because my Grandpa hunted but he passed away a few years ago and I haven't had a nice duck or quail cooked at home since then :(
Topic: RE: The dreaded drain
I had a drain that looked like a tube with a grenade hanging from my body! It was the worst part of my surgery experience. Just hang in there though that thing will be out before you know it. The greenish stuff is totally normal, the color that you have to look out for is blue or purple that's when you should call the doc.

Yes, I did. That drain is a pain in the butt. The green discharge is perfectly normal though. Just try to suffer through it and it will be out in no time. Melissa
Topic: The dreaded drain
Hi guys!
My drain (or rather the skin around it) is burning, itching, stinging and pulling. Is this normal? I change the dressing 3 times a day and keep it clean, but it's making me nuts. It's also really gross when I change it (green stuff that looks like nasal discharge). It does not have a smell, but I wonder if I have an infection. It comes out in the morning, thank goodness. As sore as it is, I'm sure it's going to hurt coming out.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!
Wanda

Topic: RE: GALLSTONES
I had my gall bladder out in January of this year. The surgery itself was in and out. I think I was only there a total of about 3 hours. (If that long) I'm able to eat anything nothing bothers me. However the pain after for me was worse than the GBS. But that's not for everyone. I guess I just managed to take that simple surgery a little harder than any others I've had. Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know how it is to have attacks. I was in so much pain one day I fell to the floor while holding a new born baby. It wasn't fun at all.
