Topic: RE: REALIZE BAND VS LAPBAND
Hi,

I don't know if you're 100% decided on the band, or not. I orignally wanted to get the band myself, but, after sitting through two lengthy seminars and doing a little research on my own, I really think the gastric bypass is the way to go. The initial risk is probably a little greater, but the eventual outcome along with the fact that the band can cause problems later down the line made me change my mind.

HELLO FRIENDS,
I WAS WANTING TO SEE IF ANYONE WAS WANTING TO GO TO GATLINBURG?

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AND I HAVE FOUND CABINS AND THE PRICES ARE GREAT NOT TOO BAD.

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON IF YOU WOULD WANT A ROOM ALONE OR WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A ROOM. SOME OF THE PRICES GOES AS FOLLOWS, $275.00 TO $175.00 FOR NIGHTS CHECK IN ON THURSDAY AND CHECK OUT SUNDAY. NOW THIS IS JUST ONE THAT I HAVE LOOKED AT. SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO LET ME KNOW AND I WILL SEE WHAT ALL I CAN FIND.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT LATE MARCH LIKE WE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST.

Topic: Just Getting Started
Hi.  My name is Erica.  I'm 27 years old, 5'4" and weigh 278 lbs.  I grew up in Simpsonville, SC but currently reside in Beaufort, SC on Laurel Bay.  I have a wonderful husband and 2 great kids.  Thomas is 8 and Jacob is 20 months.
I was a "normal" weight until I got pregnant at 18.  I was about 140-145.  Being young and stupid, I had almost doubled my weight by the time I gave birth.  The lowest my weight since then has be about 210.  That was thanks to Atkins and exercise.  It has just crept up ever since.  During my second pregnancy I only gained about 18 lbs.  Within 2 weeks of giving birth it was all gone, along with a little extra.  That was thanks to breastfeeding.  But, of course, it has just come right back.  So, here I am...with positional sleep apnea, metabolic disorder, high cholesterol, almost high blood pressure, degenerative disc disease, and 3 herniated discs in my lower back.
I'm ashamed at myself for letting it get this far.  So, I decided it's time I do something about it.  On November 20, I go to my first WLS class.  This is going to be a great journey, I feel it in my bones.  Hopefully, I can meet some great people to help me get through this.  I'm open to any words of advice.
Thanks for "listening"!

Have you tried calling around to psychologists offices to see if they accept medicaid? I really don't know much about medicaid but I do know that when it comes to WLS you often have to take matters into your own hands you can't wait for someone else to do these things for you. I was fortunate enough to have a surgeon with an in office psych so I never had to deal with this but I am sure that if you do some calling around in Spartanburg and Greenville that surely you'll find someone that will accept your insurance.

I am not sure of the resources for a Spartenburg county resident usually each county has psychiatric services that many times are prorated to financial ability.  In Greenville mental health, the clinic is located off Dumbar street and 241-1040 and maybe they could give you names of places in Spartanburg that could help.

You would need is to meet with them and discuss the issue.  Then they would have to give you a letter to give to the surgon to say you are menatally ok to undergo the process.  However, I would see if that 250 includes lifetime visit for their services post-up because if so you would be better off waiting until you can obtain the money and pay it, because most of us have issues we need help with following surgery.

Hope this helps

I don't know of any place that takes medicaid  but don't give up.....it sometimes takes a few days to get a answer on here.  call around to some of the hospitals they can give you a list of psyc in the area and you can call to see if they take medicaid.  but don't give up so easy....  the surgery is the best thing i've ever done for myself.

Oh well. Guess I may as well forget about the surgery now.
