Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I just got done looking at all your new pics and I have to tell you and your sister that you both look amazing. I remember talking to you at Dr. Bours before either of you had your surgery and I know first hand how far you both have come during your journey.  You both should be very proud of how well you have done...... I think we can tell by those smiles on your faces that you are, lol.
I need to get back on tract after the holidays are over and start losing again. I have gained a couple of pounds over the past month and need to get them off ASAP. It's so hard being around all the holiday treats at work and have been slipping up and grazing on some of them and now I am paying for it with the weight gain. I know I can get it off  since seeing how well you have both done has given me the motivation to get started eating better again.
You have a wonderful New Year and hope to see you at the meetings soon.

Take care!
Mary

Juanita,  Hope you have a great Christmas.   You are doing the best thing...watching what you eat now.  I lost a good bit of weight before my surgery  around 62 pounds and I started walking .   It made it easier to get through the surgery.    Life is so much better now.   I feel like a new person.   I enjoy my family and friends much more now.   Saving you a place on the Losers Bench.....Barbara

Hi Barbara , My name is Juanita, I have not had any surgery yet. { I want to have the RNY}
I am hopping to get started with all the paper work  right after the first week in Jan.09
I live in West Columbia SC  a few miles past the airport
my children and grandchildren  are coming over tomorrow and I have spent all day preparing food . I have already started watching what I eat  ,I am trying to get my body ready for the Wonderful change  in it.
I love Christmas time !! it seems as if people  stop and think about other people more this time of year,  It is a shame we don't do this all year
I don't know how to post my picture on my blog  but my daughter Victoria can do ANYTHING on the computer so as soon as the holidays are over I'm going to get her to take a picture of me so I can put it on my blog.
 Have a Very merry Christmas

I hope everyone will enjoy this wonderful Christmas Season.  I for one will.  This is the first Christmas in quite sometime that it has really felt like a Holiday.  I am looking forward to my family gathering at my house tomorrow. All of my children, grandchildren, in-laws, sisters and brother and their families.  About 23 of us.     I've got my video cameras charging and all my cameras ready.  I've been practicing on my kitty BooBoo  she is ready for the holidays....

They sure are cute

Hi Keike!
That sounds great to me.  I would love to go to a meeting.  How is that Kidney stone?  I hope it has passed.  My sister gets those.  Best of luck.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!  Can't wait to finally start meeting some people.  I do have some friends at work that has surgery.  But since I have been out of work due to my back problems, I haven't seen them since middle of Nov.

Take care!!

Hey Angie,

Thanks for posting, I also like to meet people that have had the surgery. I think it will be a lot easier if you know other Bypass patients, as I think we can help each other. There are always a lot of questions, a lot of new things, feelings etc. And of course, then there are new recipes to learn, etc. etc.
You are just around the corner, I'm in Summerville. Maybe we could meet sometime, get to know each other and then go to a Support Meeting together, lol. I didn't make it to the last one since I was diagnosed with a Kidney and Bladder infection and I was in too much pain to go. (Come to find out later in the ER it was more than that, I have a Kidney stone that I have not passed yet  ).
I can't believe you've lost 100 pounds in only 8 mth. I think I won't be able to comprehent it until it is happening to me, lol. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  You must be so proud of yourself!!!

Hope to hear from you again,

Heike :)

Btw..... Merry Christmas & a blessed New Year to you and your family!

I think I would do both-run the 5K and then reward myself with a make over and jewelry....I changed my hair color and got a new wardrobe KIDDING!!!! no makeover here. If I walked into a salon I am sure they would probably say OK-but cancel all the appointments for the rest of the day...this is a major project!!!

And as far as running...thank you for the kind words. I hate to ever brag but this is a place to kinda throw out to everyone your accomplishments and dang it-I feel pretty proud!! I started with walking, then some hikes, took advantage of the feeling in my legs when I lost 100lbs and my legs were saying "hey, whats this lightness feeling?? We feel springy!!"...so I ran, 7/10th of a mile, and just kept adding and adding and adding till I worked up to the marathon. No trainer, just me and a giude from Hall Higdon (www.halhigdon.com) he has training guides to people who are novices like me. And a 5K is totally do-able. Heres my philoshophy on running

Start-enjoy-finish.  Everything else, the time you do it in, doing it non-stop or run-then walk...it just does not matter. Start, enjoy-but finish!! The rest is pooey!! Thats right-I used the word pooey!1

Thanks again...I do appreciate it

Chris

The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.....John Bingham aka The Penguin
