I have BCBS of South Carolina and they absolutely will not pay for ANY weight loss surgery for ANY reason. I paid my own way...OUCH! It makes me furious that they don't cover this surgery as it has literally saved my life from diabetes, etc. I am going to try to figure out a way to get them to change their policy...kind of like David taking on Goliath. There are plenty of other companies that do cover it...not sure which ones but I know there are a bunch of folks in my support group that were covered.

I used my husband's which is BCBS Empire. Not sure what state it is, but I was approved my first try. They gave me no problems. All together I paid out of pocket probably about 2000.00 if that.

From what I can remember they don't feed them. I think they went down to the cafeteria. Maybe you can ask Monday. I just know that the first few days I was out of it. I will ask my husband in the morning. He is sleeping right now. I will keep you posted on the next group. The night one is the 3rd tuesday of the month and the afternoon is the 3rd Thursday of the month. Just let me know something :)

I have Tri Care and it covered it 100%. I went to Dr Morgan at MUSC. There are a few people on here that have BCBS maybe someone else could be of more help to you.

YESSSSS, I will go with you, lol! I made a vow to myself that I will definately take care of all the tools they offer.

Question? Will they feed a person that stays with you? My daughter will stay with me as my hubby needs to go back to work the day after surgery and also take care of the boys. Does she need to go to the cafeteria or will they bring her a tray?

Also, do you have something like a grocery shopping list for the pureed stage? I have my pre-op Monday, but was trying to get some things already since I have only a few days left......
gosh I'm so anxious!!!

Just to let you know that they have internet in your room at MUSC! My family that stayed with me played on it. So you will enjoy that! Also when you get to eat if they bring you this chicken type soup oh my go**** is YUMMY!! I tried to get some when I had my staples taken out, but it wasn't that one. But believe me it is sooooo good. Please keep me posted how it goes! Dr. B will take great care of you as well as the nurses on that floor!! It is an awesome place!!

Thanks for the congrats!! I went to my first support group meeting yesterday! It was fun. Let me know if you would like to go to the next one next month!

I was told by my insurance rep that no company in South Carolina covers WLS? Please let me know your insurance company if allowed WLS and let me know if it was a fight or just paperwork. Thanks all- I am tired of fighting with BCBS of SC.

I am so excited for you both!! Please keep us posted on your progress. I am almost 9 mths out and have finally hit the 100 lbs lost. I am 102 lbs down. So I will see you both on the losers bench! Which is the best bench to be on!! I will keep you both in my prayers!
