I don't know where to begin, it's been such a ride already. Things just went a lot smoother and MUCH quicker than even anticipated. God just has been blessing me right along the way! My insurance aproved me on January 14th, and I have my surgery (RNY) tomorrow! Honestly, it could have been quicker than this, if I didn't have to come up with the money still. I called Lisa at MUSC last Wednesday, informing her we have the money now, when can I have a date? Oh, .... how about next Wednesday? ...... Did any of you choke when you got your date? Well, I sure did! My emotions went belistic, I was a complete basketcase for a moment. But then, as a believer, I prayed to my Father, and I got what I asked for, ..... PEACE!!! I have had it since. It's awesome. I still get a bit anxious of course. After all, tomorrow they will reorganize my organs, this is a big deal, life will not ever be the same again, ...... BUT, ..... I know I am doing the right thing!!!!

For everyone: I don't know if weightloss surgery is for you, might not be, but I know I have made the right decision for me!!! (I may feel different about this tomorrow when I wake up in pain, lol)

PS: See you all on the thinner side

I started having pains in my lower left side below my naval last year and a small lump would come up that I could push against and it would go back into place, the pain would double me over and I couldn't do anything until it stopped. Dr. Bour sent me for a CT but nothing showed up so he didn't seem concerned about it at the time. The lump has gotten bigger about the size of a large plum and will still double me over at times. I'm sure it's a  hernia, since I have no idea what else it would be. I go back to Dr. Bour in April and plan on discussing what to do about it. I will not agree to have another CT since the contrast that you have to drink put me in the bathroom the whole time I was drinking it. I know it gives a lot of people diarreah ,but I think it is worse with GB patients as it runs straight through and I do mean straight through all over the place, lol. I asked another surgeon at the hospital if herinas always showed up on a CT and he told me no. I
work at St. Francis and Dr. Bour no longer goes there but we are starting a new bariatric program and Dr. Anderson is going to be doing the GB and LB, so I might get him to do the hernia repair if it is needed only because I can have it done with nothing out of pocket where I would have to pay some money if I go to Hillcrest hosptial.
I hope you get it fixed and have no more problems. Let us know how the CT goes and what he decides to do.

Hi Barbara,

How are you?  

I mostly stay on the VGS board now.  The main board got to be so unfriendly it was too much of a hassle having to watch every word.
