So glad to hear that your son is doing well.  Seems that everything happens at once.  Make sure you take special care of yourself!  Hope you have a little peace before you get to begin the packing mess!                Sandra

Topic: 1 week out!
Hi everyone, I hope this message finds you doing well!

This is my first post since surgery. My daughter has posted a couple of times for me.

Let me tell you. it's been a ride and a half. Let me explain:
I was on time with everything I'm supossed to do and I was on cloud 9. My daughter has been such a tremendous blessings. I think none will ever be able to comprehend how much she was there for me!!! Thanks Angie!!!
To explain the situation a little better, so you understand what I will write about here, let me say this. Angie is 19 and help us in our business, then we have 2 boys 16 & 17 and my loving hubby is awesopme, but like all mean, sometimes just doesn't have a clue and works mega hours in his daytime job. On top of this, we will be moving into another house by March 1st and have to be comepletely out of this one by February 28th. So, needless to say that creates enough stress for anyone.

Starting mid morning on Monday, I started gagging violently, throwing up several times, couldn't get it to stop. It was awful! I wasn't able to keep down any food and later on not even liquids! Now all of you know this is not good!!! Angie called Diana, the PA, and explained to her what was happening. Her reply was, if I wasn't feeling any better by evening I have to come in that evening or at least in the morning. Thank God, later in the evening I got a bit better, was able to keep liquids down and late evening, was even able to hold some food down!!!!! We discovered that the meds they had me start that day preventative for gall stones didn't settle well with me!

Next day, a good bit worn out from the previous day, my 17 year old informs me at 6 in the morning that he has severe lower abdominal pains. He stayed home from school, feeling worse by the hour. I haven't been driving since the surgery, they really don't want me to until I am completely of the pain meds, and my hubby was held up at work, not being able to come home. So here I go, up and down the stairs, taking care of him, then me again, then him...... well you get the picture. I didn't get any rest again. In the afternoon he had a friend take him to the ER, he checked himself in and they started the process with x-ray..... My hubby got off a little early, went out to the ER and sat with our son. They send him to do a cat scan after drinking dye, wait 30 more mins for results... Then, about 9pm I get a text....... Appendix, surgery, the are calling surgeon now!!!! ....This wasn't good. I am a very over protective Mom, and my "baby" is having surgery. I have to get there! Well, hubby picked me up, then we stayed in the hospital till he came out of recovery into his room after 1 am in the morning. He made it with flying colors. Typical teen, all we heard the whole time was...... FOOD!!! FEED ME!!!! yea, he is fine, lol. We went home to get a few hours of rest, just to get backt to the hospital this morning and sit with him a while.

I've been home since lunch now. Resting, taking care of myself, getting my fluids in (I was WARNED by my surgeons PA to get am in or they will get me admitted for intravenious fluids) and rest some more!!! I feel a bit better, but I still experience a bit more pain than I should and I could sleep for another week.

Tomorrow morning my son gets back from the hospital, ...... there goes the rest?!?!?!?!?!

On the bright side: Including the few pounds I lost before surgery, I have lost 16!!!!! pounds... Yea baby!!!!!

For all of you that have send me personal messages:
I will try to answer them as soon as I can, please be patient. I am not trying to ignore you!!! Thanks!!!

Love y'all ....... OH rocks!!!!!

It's just a little device you have to practice breathing into after the surgery. It's to exercise your lungs and helps prevent pnuemonia or other respritory problems after the surgery. It's no big deal. I had to do it after my last back surgery. I forgot to mention that the physical therapy people have exercises for you to do, both before and after the surgery.

Hey, I'm having the gastric bypass procedure done. THe band seemed like waaaaay too much trouble to me. And I'm having it done by Dr. Ross in Spartanburg. It was supposed to be done on Tuesday the 10th at 3:30 but they called a few minutes ago and moved it up to Monday at 9.

congrats !!!  how was the class you had to take   what all did they go threw with you there?are you getting a filter put in to help prevent bloodclots?
The class is just boring. It's about as much fun as watching paint dry. The woman from Dr. Ross' staff comes in and talks about the dos and donts and where to get protien supplements, etc. Then the woman comes in and talks about that little thing we'll be breathing in and why it's so important, then a woman from physical therapy comes in and tells us we're going to be getting up and walking, and then a nutritionist comes in and talks for a little while. Then finally they finish up with some forms to fill out, etc and going over the drain tube we'll have for the first week. And no, I didn't have to get a filter put in, but there was a woman in our group that had to have it done.
