Topic: Did Anyone Use The Medicaid Plan First Choice by Select Health?
I have medicaid and the plan I chose was First Choice by Select Health. Has anyone gotten approval through them? How long did it take for approval? What did they require?

Topic: RE: Internal Hernia???
Well I just had (EXPLORATORY) surgery last wednesday  to repair the hernia , they also removed some scar tissue and fat that was hanging from my abdominal wall, and straightened out my bowels.  I seem to be doing well, I'll be returning back to work tmrw.  I am staying very light-headed, my doc thought it was a protein deficiency which made sence but I have corrected for that and still am having issues.???  Hopefully it will get better though.

Topic: 2 days out and everything looks good
I had my surgery Monday morning and everything went just fine. It just took a little longer becaue Dr. Ross said my abdominal muscles were pretty thick, compared to most people he's worked with. I guess that's from doing 2-300 crunches a day a couple of years ago. Anyway, I'm not going to lie to anyone............After the surgery, I really, realy really hurt. It sucked so bad. I've had three previous surgeries and I have to say by coparison, this is by and far the most painful. Well, it's 2 days out and I'm far from 100%, I do feel tons better. And, the really great thing is, the surgery worked!!!! I haven't been the least bit hungry since the surgery and the thought and smell of food makes me gag. I've had to force mself just to ingest some protien shake. I haven't thrown up or anything!!! Just remember folks......The first couple of days out are going to be hellish.

Topic: RE: Program Fees
Dr. Ross in Spartanburg doesn't charge any upfront fees or anything and I have to say, he's an excellent doctor. I just had my surgery Monday (I'm still at the hospital) and Dr. Ross has gone out of his way to make sure we're comfortable and everything is going according to plan.

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
I am a post surgery patient of Dr. Bour in Greenville, SC.  I highly recommend the program.  They have full time registered nutritionist and psychologist on staff.  A good surgeon can do your surgery but it requires quite a bit of help from the staff for your weight loss surgery to be successful.  The program requires you attend support group prior to surgery and after the surgery.

I find the weekly support group to be most helpful.

Topic: RE: Program Fees
I know that some might not have the money for the program fees but I'm glad that I did....I had great information going into surgery and afterwards  the support groups before and after and all the nutritution classes and psych stuff.  I would not have done it any other way....I know some of the program fees are steep, but some are worth it.  My surgeon charged a 2000.00 fee but I'm sure I got that much or more worth of services.

I am just wondering what kind of before and after care do these surgeons have that don't charge a program fee?  If it's the same then I should have checked into that.....I just thought all of them charge and offered the programs.

Topic: RE: Did anyone use Dr Rowitz
I used Dr. Rowitz when I had my surgery in 2006. I loved him, he is a great doctor. I didn't have to pay anything up front, but could be because of my insurance paying for all of the surgery, I'm not sure how all that works. I had met my out of pocket for the year so BCBS paid for my surgery. It would be well worth going to another seminar so you can ask those kind of questions. Tell hubby to hold off on buying anything till you get a chance to look into your surgery.
