Just background--I am a state employee who is trying to get insurance approval for rny. I have been told over and over that SC does not cover wls. Wow, they had no idea how much info and ammunition I have from all you wonderful people here at OH. Thank goodness many of you have shared that MUSC Options covers this procedure. I thought I would pass along some info that I learned recently from the South Carolina Employees Insurance Program... Karen Sanders (a supervision) confirmed on Tuesday (and yes, much to her surprise) that MUSC Options DOES cover this surgery. She didn't even know this. We had gone several rounds in which she stated that SC does not cover under aANY insurance plan available to ANY state employee. Since we are all state employees who should have the same benefits available to us, she stated that we should write to Mr. Robin Tester who is the Director of the SC Employees Insurance Program. There may be hope to get coverage for those of us not able to enroll in MUSC options which is only available to about 4 counties of SC. Get your pens ready and bombard Mr. Tester! We ALL are deserving of the same benefits!!!! Cyndi
