Hi Everyone I'm HOME!! I have just gotten online for the first time since I had my surgery and had MANY, MANY emails asking about it. So I thought I better give everyone an update before I get too far behind. My surgery went great! After getting dressed in the ever so fashionable hospital gown and waiting to go to surgery, My husband Dean said a prayer, Next As they were wheeling me to the holding room Dean gave me a hug & kiss and told me he loved me, The kids were off getting a snack so the nurse let them come back to the holding room to give a kiss & hugs & Love you's. We were told it would be a 4 hour surgery, it only took 2 hours! How about that! The last thing I remember before drifting off into dream land was Dr. Ross holding my hand and praying for me, such a sweet prayer. The next thing I remember is waking up in recovery, the first thoughts that came into my mind was that, I'm awake, I made it! Thank you Jesus! My life long friend Donna Graham (She works in the Operating Room) came and sat and talked to me a couple of times in the recovery room but that's all I remember about recovery. I really did not have the severe pain that I was expecting to have, so I was very happy about that, It hurt the most trying to get up, and laying back down, I was lucky also in getting to have the laparoscopic surgery where there was 6 incisions. The two that hurt are the 2 with the tubes sticking out of my belly. The pain has been strong enough that I did use my "happy button" that gave me morphine but the pain never brought me to tears. The WONDERFUL man God gave me as a husband NEVER LEFT MY SIDE the whole time I was in the hospital, he slept on that small window seat bed. He helped dress me in my night gowns after the many leaks from the tubes, "yuck" AND he washed my gowns in the sink, and hung them in the shower to dry. He made sure I did my breathing, drank my protein and walked the halls with me. I don't know what I would do without him. Dr. Ross, Diane Smith, Norma Gaffney and the nurses on 6th floor tower are the absolute best! They are very caring, and they know all about Gastric Bypass Surgery. They answer any and all questions. There was one other lady there that had her Gastric bypass the day after mine, A nurse Joannie Williams, We push our IV stands as we get our walks in each day, I tried to talk her into a race but she wouldn't go for it. (She knew I would win! LOL!) I went in on Monday and came home on Thursday, You would have thought I had been gone for a year! Our Maltese dogs were so excited they about ate me alive! LOL! They are very confused as to why they can't get into Mama's lap. Oh my go**** would totally kill me if one accidentally jumped into my lap, so I sit holding a pillow in my lap all the time, which also helps when coughing, I press the pillow in my stomach and it doesn't hurt as much. They sent me home with morphine patches that Dean puts on my arm and will change every 3 days, and also liquid oxycodone for pain, And just as in the hospital, Dean has babied me here to with changing my badges and draining my drain pump, massaging legs and feet with lotions because my skin has become so dry for some reason, he walks around the back yard with me as I take my 3 walks a day and has printed up a schedule for me with everything from the meals I eat a day, to the exercises etc, So YES, Everything is going great, all the many prayers have been felt and answered. I HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED! I want to thank everyone for the visits, cards, gifts and flowers that still continue to come in. They really brighten my spirits when I'm feeling down. I love you all my friends, Debra

Debra, Great job girl!!! Your DH sounds wonderful.. MY DH is reading my WLS book from Lexington Medical right now. And was surprised I can have grits on week 3! Yuck sorry I do not do grits (smile). I like cream of wheat. You were prepared and are following the rules...you will do great. God bless and may the Lord continue to bless this tool and choice. My surgery is tomorrow (25th) so I am excited too. Not nervous at all. The peace that passes understanding". Yeah Lord! In Christ, Joan M
