Hi All! I am going to be moving to the area in January. My hubby will be transferred to NWS Charleston. I am wondering who has had Dr. Michael Sabback as their dr...and if he has a website???? I can't find much info on him, but what I have found I really like! I am 8 months postop and have lost almost 100 pounds...so I will be needing a surgeon to continue to follow me. Thanks a bunch! Happy Monday! Stephanie

Hello Stephanie and Welcome to the SC board. I live in Charleston and had surgery almost 4 weeks ago. I do not know a Dr. Sabback, most if not all of us here in Charleston have had our surgery done by Dr. Byrne or someone in his group at MUSC. There is also a support group at MUSC as well as most the people in Charleston go to a weekly support group called the LCBBs. Dr. Byrne is great and answer any question, as does his staff. But I can understand wanting to stay with a Doctor you already know or feel comfortable with. Let us know when you are coming down. Congrats on the 100 pounds, that is wonderful!! Julie

Hey, I do know that Dr. Sabback is no longer performing gastric bypass surgeries. Other physicians have told me that he lost his priviledges at the hospital due to a very high post op complication rate. MUSC has just been names a center of excellence, and Dr. Byrne, Baker, and Morgan are great. I work in the medical field and know that MUSC fixed a lot of Dr S's mistakes

Hey Stephanie! Welcome! I moved here from Massachusetts about 17 months ago and I will never leave! It is a GREAT place to live (my husband was raised here- that's what brought us back). My surgery is...TOMORROW! and I, too, will at MUSC with Br. Byrne performing the surgery. Congratulations on your big loss! I can't wait to be on the losing side! Julie is right about the great support groups at MUSC and the LCBB, which I will get to once I am on the road to recovery. Once again, welcome!
