Hey everyone! My name is Brooke and I had my RNY bypass last Monday, April 3. I'm so relieved that it's over!!!! I go for my followup with Dr. Bour this Thursday to find out how things are going. I'm ready to get these drains out, that's for sure!! I have 2 drains, one on each side. That's not the norm, but I had my gallbladder removed and had to have a drain on that side as well. The removal of the GB was actually more involved than the bypass, according to Dr. Bour. I had a very worn out gallbladder it seems! Physically I'm feeling okay. I have already dropped 12 pounds according to a home scale, and I'm excited about that. I'm having a hard time getting my protein supplements in, though. I get my 4 ounces an hour like I'm supposed to, but it's a struggle. I just don't want anything! No desire to eat or drink.....strange feeling. I've never NOT been hungry before! I'll keep everyone informed, and I'm looking forward to meeting lots of you soon! I know that some of Dr. Bour's patients are on this message board, so please send me a shout out!! Hi Brooke- I had my surgery on 3/29. I'm sure we have met at the pre-op and optifast meetings. I also and am still having trouble with the protien. I just can't get past the smell. I have an extra sensitive sense of smell now. It was so much easier to get gross things down when you could "chug." But alas, those days are gone now. I usually get it in by sneaking in a tablespoon here and there into my foods instead of a whole scoop. It adds up and at the end of the day, you get your protien in. My drain is KILLING me. It is very irritated and sore. But now that I know you have TWO drains, I will no longer feel sorry for myself. Especially since mine comes out this Thursday - Woo Hoo! Kathy

Yeah, Kathy - the drains are so aggravating!!!!! The one on the right comes out Thursday at my first post-op appointment with Dr. Bour. The one on the left that everyone has is doing okay - my skin is so irritated from the tape though!!!!! And my incisions are already starting to itch. I'm ready for the next few weeks to go by!!!!!!
