Hi I wondered if anyone has a check list of all the stuff you need to purchase prior to surgery. I've got my vitamins etc and Carnation Instant Breakfast...has anyone got some useful tips to ensure that I'm well prepared...I welcome any advise Lesley

Chap Stick, my lips were so dry and cracking after I woke up, It was the best thing that I brought to the hospital. They stuff they have there for you really did not work that well. This is the stuff I made sure I had: grits, various cheeses, egg beaters, cream soups that matched the recipes in the back of the booklet we get from MUSC, personal blender (from Wal-Mart), Carnation Instant Breakfast, powder milk, small storage containers, and a pill box. Wal-Mart has small zip lock bags for individual day pill backs, I use them the crush my pills. I put the tablet in the small zip lock and cru**** It minimizes the crushed pill from going all over the place. Good luck! Hugs Julie

No need to crush your pills & try to swallow the nasty tastes of them (Dr Byrne agrees) ... Just get a pill splitter & split your pills into the size of an m&m ... You won't have any trouble swallowing or digesting them that way ... Even right after surgery.

Thanks for the tip. I wish I was told that weeks ago!! I really have not had that much trouble, but it still would have been nice to know. All I was told at the hospital was to crush everything. You will be missed from the board. Hurry back soon Julie
