I had WLS almost 2 years ago, and I have lost a total of 170 pounds. For the last few months I have had severe abdominal pain, similar to gall stones, even though I don't have a gall bladder. After going through a multitude of tests, Dr. Byrne thinks that I have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. That is where the bile goes into the duodeum, and the sphincter isn't functioning well, and the bile backs up. I also have something called pancreatic divisum. I am going to have surgery on April 18, and I am pretty scared because it is open. My bypass was lap. Has anyone heard of this, or had the surgery?

Hi Christi! I am sorry, but no I haven't ever heard of it, but you may want to post on the main board (where there are more old timers) and especially ask "Dame Tooters" she is full of information. I hope that everything goes well. Will Dr. B be doing your surgery? Hugs, Britt

I'm so sorry you are going through this after having such success with your WLS. Britt's right, Tooter is the one to ask, or someone else on the main board may have some experience with this. Dr. Byrne is the best! You're in my thoughts and prayers. Love, B
