I know, most women don't get excited about starting their period but I am. I found out I had PCOS at the same time I found out I was pregnant about 13 years ago. I have only had 2 or 3 periods since I had my son. Today, it started. I am feeling bad, but I do not care. I feel like a woman again!! This surgery is so worth every pain I have been through, this would have NEVER happened without surgery. I have lost 65 lbs in 3.5 months and even if I didn't lose another pound it was still worth it because I do not have diabetes or high blood pressure anymore and my period started. Woohoo!! I am so happy. My PCOS is an extreme case and if I can start my period after this many years I am sure other things are going to happen. Thank you god for this surgery!! Theresa Z

As a fellow PCOSer, I know exactly how you feel. I've had many women tell me "I would be happy if I didn't have a period." But they have no idea. I am able to have a period with BC pills, but without them - nothing. No period means a higher risk of uterine cancer and almost no chances of conceiving since you are probably not ovulating. Not to mention the painful cysts and all the other symptoms. (Do we even need to go there?) I know that a period is only the first step to feeling 100% normal again and I am very happy for you!! This is one of the things I am looking forward to also. Kathy

Yes, exactly.......normal. PCOS is as big a burden on my life as the obesity was. Anyone who has had the surgery and didn't have PCOS is lucky. For me only half my battle is over with losing weight. I will always have PCOS, this will just make it better I think. I hope you get the same result. It is a step in the right direction for me. It makes it easier for me to face the days ahead. Good luck and keep me informed. I like to be in the know on the PCOS subject. Theresa

I did some research and found out what PCOS is...I'm sorry that you have to deal with it at all...but I'm so happy to know that your wls has given you a partial victory over PCOS. I hope wls will help Kathy with some relief from PCOS too! Tonya

Theresa, I'm one of those women...I use to bleed so bad (fibroids) that I use to have to have iron infusions...my uterus was the size of a 6 mo pregnant woman. I had a hysterectomy in 2004...and haven't missed my period at all. Yet I still can understand where you're coming from. What is PCOS? I read Kathy's reply...it can lead to some pretty aweful stuff. So girlfriend wls surgery is helping return your health to you...thats why we endure what we endure, we just want our lives back. So a big Wooooooohooooooo!!! for the return of your period...if you're happy...I'm happy for you. Tonya
