What to do. I am taking all my vitamins, biotin, drinking protein shakes with biotin, eating lots of protein, using cholesterol conditioner on my hair. What else can I do? I mean handfuls of hair are coming out, if this continues I will be bald. HELP!! If anyone has any ideas please post. Thanks, Theresa Z

THERE'S NOTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO, MS TINA; YOU'RE DOING IT ALL RIGHT ... IT'S FROM THE VERY, VERY LIMITED AMOUNT OF PROTEIN WE ATE FOR THE 1st SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER SURGERY & FROM THE STRESS OF THE SURGERY & HEALING PROCESS WHICH TAKES ABOUT 3 MONTHS. SOME LOSE MORE; SOME LOSE LESS, BUT WE ALL LOSE HAIR. STAY WITH THE BIOTIN & SUPPLEMENTS & CONTINUE TO DO ALL THE "RIGHT" THINGS; IT WILL GROW BACK. IF IT GETS TOO BAD, GO FOR THE WIGS & HAIR PIECES ... IT'S JUST ONE OF THE PRICES WE HAVE TO PAY TO GET THROUGH THIS & GET HEALTHY & THIN. REMEMBER MY EXAMPLE OF THE LADY AT MY CHURCH WHO HAS CANCER ... WHEN HER HAIR GROWS BACK IN, SHE MAY STILL BE FACING DEATH ... WHEN OUR HAIR GROWS BACK IN, WE'RE FACING A HEALTHIER LIFE. I KNOW IT'S DISTRESSING ... I'M LOOKING AT MY SCALP BECAUSE OF HAIR LOSS & HAVING TO KEEP IT REALLY SHORT BECAUSE IT IS SO FINE ... BUT, BUT, BUT ... IT WILLLLLLLL COME BACK! STICK IN THERE, GIRL ... WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

Hi Theresa! Unfortunately there isn't much you can do. I did all the samethings and the right things and it still fell out. It has finally stopped and I have some new growth coming in. I ended up cutting my hair really short that way my new growth could catch up quicker. The bad thing with mine is that my hair was already REAL thin to start with. One of my daughters friends said the other day, "Wow your hair is thin." I wanted to knock that girl out! LOL.... But it is all good. I would rather be a little thin on top and a lot thinner around the waist. Good Luck, Britt

Yikes! Up till now, my hair has been my best asset. I am not looking forward to this. Will it matter any that my hair is super-thick and I have tons of it? I feel pretty vain asking this, but it's like having the one thing I feel good about yanked away. Is it possible to take too much biotin or B complex? Britt, I do like your attitude though! I look forward to the trade, just as long as it is not so much and not permanent. It isn't permanent is it? Christine

MOST, IF NOT ALL OF US LOSE SOME HAIR ... SOME LOSE A WHOLE LOT & MS BRITTY WARNED ME THAT AFTER LOSING THE 1st TIME, IT MAY STOP & THEN START LOSING AGAIN. SOME LOSE A LITTLE, BUT MOST LOSE SOME. NOPE, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH HAIR YOU HAVE ... HAS TO DO WITH THE STRESS ON THE BODY FROM SURGERY & THE HEALING PROCESS ... &, FROM THE EXTREMELY SMALL AMOUNT OF PROTEIN WE INGEST FOR THE 1sT COUPLE MONTHS POST OP. THE BODY CHOOSES BETWEEN GETTING YOU HEALTHY OR HAVING HEALTHY HAIR, SKIN & NAILS ... BE HAPPY ... THE BODY IS SMART ENOUGH TO KEEP YOU ALIVE. NOPE, IT'S NOT PERMANENT. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT, YOU CANNOT GET TOO MUCH B ... YOU FLUSH OUT WHAT YOU DON'T USE IN YOUR URINE. NOT SURE ABOUT BIOTIN, BUT I TAKE 3 A DAY & MY EARLY LABS WERE GREAT.

I am 3.5 months post op and just started losing hair at 3 months. I feel the same way about my hair as you, it WAS my best asset and mine was long and very thick and I had tons of it and it is falling out by the hands full. Thanks god mine is thick or I would be looking almost bald right now, no joke. I knew my hair would fall out but not this bad. But, you know what, it is worth it. I am feeling better than I have in years. I have PCOS and haven't had but maybe 2 or 3 periods since I had my son almost 13 years ago and it started today and it wouldn't even start with pills anymore. It is worth every hair I lose!! I am feeling like a woman again!! WOOHOO!! Hair can grow back but this weight was killing me. I am 65 pounds lighter!! Thank you god!! Theresa

WHAT A FANTASTIC ATTITUDE, MS THERESA!!!!!!!!!!! I FEEL THE VERY SAME WAY ... LOOSE SKIN, HAIR LOSS, WRINKLES ... ALLLLLLLLLL WELL WORTH THE IMPROVEMENT IN MY HEALTH ... THE RENEWED ENERGY I NOW HAVE & THE WEIGHT LOSS! NOTHING IS AS BAD AS BEING OBESE FOR 27 YEARS & SOOOOOOOOOOO UNHEALTHY.

We also need some help in the zinc department. I read that taking a zinc supplement every day will help with hair loss. I have been taking it faithfully. Also one of my friends was told by her Doctor to take it and she lost very little hair. She could not believe how thick her hair got after a while. She is a year and a half out and still takes the zinc just because... Her hair is thicker now than before surgery. So I figured it couldn't hurt! Patricia

So, I know what dosage to buy, how much are you taking per day of the zinc, Ms Patricia? Thanks for the info!

We take the Spring Valley (Wal-Mart) Natural Zinc 50 mg. I break mine in two because it is kinda long. It also helps your immune system, which we all need! Patricia
