Congratulations! I just read your last post and what you've written here too. Sounds like me a couple years ago. I had prayed about this surgery so much, that I was so at peace there was not a nervous bone in my body! Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Hi everyone, I am finally taking the time to post instead of just read, since my day is fast approaching- April 14th~ Good Friday. Also a patient of Dr. Byrne, I have my pre-op on the 6th, so I am also wondering what the pre-op will be like. I was not nervous yet, but after reading many of the messages on here, I think I am considerably in the dark as to what to expect. I went to all of the informative classes and such, but it was more than a month ago, and I feel a little forgetful. What is the filter that everyone talks about having put in pre-surgery? I am not sure I recall that. I am having a lap RNY. Thanks, Christine

MEDICAL TESTS IF THEY HAVE SAID THAT YOU NEED THEM FOR YOUR PARTICULAR MEDICAL CONDITION (YOU'D ALREADY KNOW THAT), PAPERWORK, INSURANCE OR PAYMENT REVIEW & SIGNING RELEASES ... THAT'S ABOUT IT. YOU MAY ENJOY MY POSTS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCES IN THE HOSPITAL ... THEY ARE RIGHT AFTER MY HOSPITAL PICTURES (10-28-2005). DR BYRNE'S IS THE BEST. &, YOU'LL LOVE THE NURSES & STAFF ON "BYRNE'S BOULEVARD". THE FILTER IS TO HELP WITH POSSIBLE BLOOD CLOTS; IT WOULD BE USED DEPENDING ON CERTAIN MEDICAL & LIFESTYLE CONSIDERATIONS. ALSO, LOVENOX, AN INJECTION, COULD BE USED TO THIN THE BLOOD, BUT DR B WOULD HAVE TALKED WITH YOU ABOUT ALL THIS IF HE FELT THAT IT WAS NECESSARY. I WASN'T THE LEAST BIT NERVOUS EITHER ... NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE THAN THE LAST 27 YEARS OF STRUGGLING WITH OBESITY & THE RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS, WHICH HAVE ALL DISAPPEARED ALONG WITH 26 DOSES OF PRESCRIBED MEDICATION DAILY. NOT TO WORRY ... YOU'LL "FORGET" JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, BUT AS YOU NEED THE INFO, IT'LL COME BACK TO YOU OR YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK HERE ON THE BOARD & SOMEONE WILL DEFINITELY HELP YOU.
