DAILY WEIGH INs MAY BE BETTER OVER THE LONG HAUL

FOUND THIS ON ANOTHER BOARD ... Daily weigh-ins may be good for you ... I'm quoting this from the March issue of Shape magazine. "Get on your scale today and again tomorrow. Sure, the idea may sound as appealing as a standing date with the dentist, but a new study from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis found that DAILY WEIGH-INs MAY BE THE KEY TO SHEDDING POUNDS. WOMEN WHO FOLLOWED THAT STRATEGY LOST TWICE AS MUCH WEIGHT OVER THE COURSE OF TWO YEARS - dropping two body mass index units - than those who stepped on the scale weekly. AVOIDING CHECKS ENTIRELY WAS LINKED TO WEIGHT GAIN. The findings are counter to the advice of many weight-loss programs, which often suggest that the daily up and down can be demoralizing. But for many women, lead author Jennifer A. Linde, Ph.D., says that doesn't have to be the case. "The number is a feedback tool," she says. "Unless you have had an eating disorder or severe depression, knowing where you stand every day can be very helpful. You can spot an upward trend so that you can make adjustments to your plan quickly." For consistency, weigh in at the same time every day and think big picture. "EXPECT FLUCTUATIONS OF 1-3 POUNDS DAILY," Linde says. "If the numbers go up more that that and stay elevated for a week, it's a sign to reevaluate your diet." I WEIGH DAILY & IT KEEPS ME ON THE "STRAIGHT & NARROW" A LOT MORE. IT KEEPS ME ACCOUNTABLE. GOD BLESS Y'ALL DAWN & NICK
