I have been getting lots of compliments at work and now several people are asking me what I am doing and how I am doing it. I am not comfortable telling them the truth. What should I do? Thanks, Carla

I just smile and say "I"m eating LOTS less". Its the truth and for people I'm not comfortable about talking about WLS with, it works well Mary

I AM JUST THE OPPOSITE ... I'LL TELL ANYONE & EVERYONE ABOUT WLS HOPING THAT IT GIVES HOPE TO SOMEONE WHO HEARS OF THE SURGERY & MY PROGRESS. BUT ... THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO PUT YOURSELF IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE ... YOU CAN STILL TELL OTHERS ABOUT YOUR DAILY CHANGES WITHOUT GOING INTO THE WLSurgery ISSUE. WLS IS THE TOOL, BUT IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE RULES & MAKE WISE CHOICES, IT'S WORTHLESS, SO FOCUS YOUR ANSWERS ON THE WISE CHOICES, MS CARLA ... ... THAT YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR HEALTH FIRST & ARE MAKING WISER & HEALTHIER CHOICES ... HEALTHIER FOODS, SMALLER PORTIONS, FLUIDS, HIGH PROTEIN/LOW CARBS & CUTTING OUT THE SWEETS. IF YOU ARE EXERCISING, THEN ADD THAT BIT OF INFORMATION AS WELL. YOU HAVE A LOT TO BE PROUD OF & OTHERS WILL SEE YOUR SUCCESSES AS AN INSPIRATION TO THEM, SO ENJOY THE COMPLIMENTS & KNOW THAT YOU ARE HELPING OTHERS WITH THEIR STRUGGLES. GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

Me too, I am with Dawn. Why are you embarassed? If I can help just one person learn about this surgery, and save their lives, then I have done my part. I am so passionate about this surgery, and I am very outspoken. If people have a problem with the surgery...and believe me, they will, then that is THEIR problem, not mine I just live my life as God says, and walk each day best I can...I can't worry about what others think or say, they have to answer to their maker, not me Hope that helps, did not mean for it to come out a little "opinionated" like it seems to read You are looking great and doing great, keep up the work, and when you are comfortable, you will tell people. Hugs and kisses, Deb

Hello Carla... I am with Dawn and Deb on this one... I tell anyone who ask about this great surgery... But I know that some people don't feel comfortable with telling and that is ok too.... I have read where alot of people that don't want to tell just say WE EAT A LOT LESS and that is 100% true... We do eat alot less... That way it is not a lie.....Brenda..

Carla: I understand not wanting to tell everyone. Some people are so critical and I would rather not deal with that. I have slowly told people at work I want to know and others I just tell "I am eating a WHOLE LOT less". Susann

Thank you all for the info and advice. I am an engineer and I work with a lot of men. The few women that work here are always looking for something or someone to talk about. I am not interested in being the topic of the year, so I haven't told anyone about my WLS. A couple of my close coworkers that offer me support know, but everyone else is clueless. I have told everyone that the reason I am dieting and getting my weight under control is so I can get pregnant, which is true. I want to be able to share my WLS experience, but at this time I am not comfortable being talked about at work. Outside of work, I talk about my WLS and experience freely. I appreciate all of your kind words and support. ~Carla

Carla I am in the same boat that you are in. I havent told anyone in the office building that I work in except my boss and the girl that works with me. I too feel everyone is so critical about your business. People that have asked my boss or my co-worker they just told them I had female surgery and alot of them think it is surgery to help me get pregnant. Which is something I also want once im post op long enough. My husband and I have tried for 11 years and I just hope having this surgery will help my pcos.

WE'RE SO SORRY YOU HAVE TO WORK UNDER SUCH UNPLEASANT CONDITIONS. IT'S AMAZING HOW NASTY SOME PEOPLE CAN BE. THEN, YOU TURN AROUND & OTHER PEOPLE ARE SUCH BLESSINGS TO HAVE IN OUR LIVES. WELL, JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE PUT FANTASTIC EFFORT INTO THIS & YOUR WLS FAMILY IS 100% BEHIND YOU & VERY PROUD OF YOUR SUCCESSES, MS CARLA! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
