~> I'M NOT HAPPY

Hello My Friends, Well, I have had my first negative response concerning my journey to WLS. I received a letter today from our insurance company CIGNA saying that I have been denied! This is so ridiculous! The two reasons that they say they have denied me is: 1) That I didn't have the documentation needed or a Doctor saying that I needed this surgery. This is wrong, 6 months of documentation from my Doctor was sent to them plus 3 letters one from my PCP, another from the Nurse Practitioner, AND one from my Dietitian/Nutritionist saying I needed this surgery. 2) They said they didn't receive a letter concerning preoperative psychological evaluation. It was with all the other information that was sent! Someone at CIGNA has fallen asleep on the job! Arrrggghhhh!! OK, I'm over my temper tantrum. I'll call Angie the insurance Angel at Dr. Ross office Monday morning. She'll straighten CIGNA out! Y'all say a little prayer for me. God bless, Debra

I have CIGNA too and definitely know your frustration. There is a yahoo group called "cignasqueakywheels" that has some good tips and information regarding fighing the good fight with them. Good Luck Susann

Debra, I got 2 letters in the same day from CIGNA. One said that it was denied based on needing additional information. And the other one said it was approved. Angie had already told me that I was approved and when I called CIGNA, they also said that I was approved.....BEFORE I received the letters. So, I really just didn't pay them too much attention. (but I would still put Angie on it!!) Sooooooo....... don't sweat it too much. If Angie said it was approved, and they set up a surgery date, then it is approved!! I'm getting my explanation of benefits stuff in now. They didn't want to pay for the leak test....due to it being weight related and that my plan didn't pay for weight related stuff unless medically approved.......HELLO, THEY APPROVED, THE SURGERY, RIGHT???? Anyways, I had to call and advise them of this and they resubmitted it. ya gotta love it!!! It will be ok....hang in there, girl!! Hugs, Dianne

Thank you Dianne, This makes me feel a lot better. I'm sitting here now waiting for Dr. Ross office to open so I can call Angie and get her on CIGNA! I have been told many times that Angie is the insurance Angel. Well, I'm about to put her to the Angel test LOL! I so enjoyed meeting you last week at the support group you are such a sweetheart, I don't know why, but I had picture you being more on the bossy side, like a Marine Sargeant or something. LOL! Don't ask me why, but that's what I had in my mind LOL! But you are nothing like that, you are sooooo sweet! I love you my friend, Debra
