SHE JUST CALLED ME & IS STILL WAITING FOR THE KIDNEY STONES TO PASS ... ONE IS ABOUT 3mm & ONE IS TINY ... WHEN THEY GET TO 5mm, YOU CANNOT PASS THEM & THEY HAVE TO BREAK THEM UP WITH ULTRASOUND (I BELIEVE THAT'S WHAT THEY USE) ... ANYWAY, SHE'S ON PAIN MEDS WHICH ARE HELPING BUT DOESN'T RELIEVE THE PAIN COMPLETELY. SHE SAID THAT THIS IS HE WORST PAIN SHE'S EVER ENDURED ... LIKE HAVING A BABY, BUT WORSE. NOW, SHE JUST HAS TO WAIT UNTIL THEY PASS. SHE'S REALLY PUSHING THE FLUIDS (LIKE WE ALLLLL SHOULD) ... &, YES, YES, YES ... WE HAVE MORE CHANCE OF GETTING STONES IF WE DON'T KEEP OUR FLUIDS UP. DR BYRNE WAS NOTIFIED WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT MUSC, & THEY HAVE ALSO E-MAILED BACK & FORTH ... SHE WAS TAKEN TO MUSC WHEN SHE HAD THE ATTACK ... GOOD CHOICE ... REMEMBER LADIES & GENTS, MOST DOCTORS ARE NOT KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE ISSUES OF GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENTS ... IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, IN ANY EMERGENCY, TRY TO GET TO A HOSPITAL THAT HAS A GASTRIC BYPASS DEPARTMENT ... THIS SHOULD BE THE 1st THING YOU TELL ANY EMERGENCY STAFF MEMBER ... "I'M A GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENT - I CANNOT TAKE GLUCOSE, ASPIRIN PRODUCTS, NSAIDs, TIME-RELEASED MEDS OR MEDS IN CAPSULES ... DO NOT INSERT AN NG TUBE BLIND ... &, MY ALLERGIES ARE ..." ALSO, HAVE THE NAME & CONTACT NUMBER FOR YOUR SURGEON & PRIMARY DOCTOR SO BOTH CAN BE CONSULTED. WE GET TO FEELING SO GOOD AFTER WLS THAT WE DON'T THINK THAT WE WILL FOREVER BE "DIFFERENT" MEDICALLY & NEED TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM MEDICAL MISTAKES DUE TO THIS DIFFERENCE. GOD BLESS & SPECIAL PRAYERS OF HEALING FOR MS DEBORAH DAWN & NICK PS: EACH OF US SHOULD GET A MEDIC ALERT BRACELET AT LEAST STATING "NO BLIND NG TUBE & NO GLUCOSE" ... BE SURE TO NOTE YOUR ALLERGIES & OTHER SEVERE MEDICAL CONDITION & IF POSSIBLE, YOUR BARIATRIC SURGEON'S NAME & PHONE NUMBER.

YES MA'AM, IT'S SOOOOO IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE "NO-NO" LIST FOR WLS PATIENTS SO THAT IF YOU'RE IN AN EMERGENCY, YOUR CAREGIVERS DON'T ACTUALLY HARM YOU MORE NOT KNOWING YOUR CASE OR NOT UNDERSTANDING YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS. DR BYRNE'S SCHEDULING ... 843 792-8999 DR BYRN'ES NURSE, BRENDA ... 843 792-9095 MUSC OPERATOR ... 843 792-9200 MS DEBORAH HAS AN ON-CALL # I'M WAITING FOR HER TO SEND ME THAT IS A GREAT # TO HAVE AS IT IS THE BARIATRIC DOCTOR ON CALL SO SOMEONE KNOWLEDGABLE WITH THE PROCEDURE WOULD BE AVAILABLE 7/24 AT THAT #. I'LL POST IT, MS JULES, AS SOON AS MS DEB SENDS IT TO ME. GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

I FOUND THE MUSC BARIATRIC EMERGENCY PAGER NUMBER IN MS DEBORAH'S POST ... HERE IT IS, MS JULES ... "The emergency pager number for the on call dr. for gastric bypass is 792-2123. Just remember that number, very important. She called me right back when I called, and said they would wait for me there." (from Ms Deborah's post)

Thanks so much Ms. Dawn! I am doing "okay" but not great. Just laying here in and out of consiousness waiting for the little guys to pass...but nothing yet. I cannot find my bracelet anywhere...but I do have one. I sure needed it yesterday though in the ambulance as I could not remember a thing. I need to add Nurse Brenda's phone number in my phone. The emergency pager number for the on call dr. for gastric bypass is 792-2123. Just remember that number, very important. She called me right back when I called, and said they would wait for me there. The ER PA and ER Doc were great...good drugs! Wish I had those drugs here at home. I am on percocet...bleh, not so great, the dalaudid did better, mixed with pheneragan, as it helped the pain and knocked me out. I am on pheneragan at home too for nausea. I am pushing the fluids...I really felt terrible about not drinking as much, believe me, I am changing that!! I also need to re-think all my vitamins...the calcium, or too much, is likely a cause. My husband said get off the vista vitamins and go back on flintstones...but then my hair will fall out They also told me at the ER that a lot of protein can cause these too, so we really need to push our fluids. I wish they would have left an IV in me. I know I wouldn't have to worry so much about drinking. I gained like 5 lbs of IV fluids...but I know it will go away. Thanks so much for the updates Dawn, and everyone for all the prayers, I am so thankful for everything, and all the friends I have on here Love you lots Deborah
