Let me make you laugh!
Ok for those of you who know me, you know that I am CRAZY!! (HA HA crazy,
not Mental Crazy) Yesterday or the day before I posted about too many calories and was basically driving myself crazy thinking that I had "broken" my tool and doomed myself to a size 18 FOREVER!
Well I have been entering my food into FItday.com and after some CAREFUL Re-reading noticed that I had been putting in my boiled eggs as 1 CUP and not 1 LARGE!!! As you well know, this will make a huge difference in your caloric breakdown, and I appreared to be taking in almost 1000 calories, instead of (drumroll please) 600-750!!!! Talk about a SIGH of relief!!! I feel so much better now that I know I am not secretly Pigging out and can't figure out how!!!
I had stopped logging my food/exercise into Fitday, however after this stall- that is now over- I will diligently log in EVERYTHING. I learned the hard way that this helps keep me accountable. I knew that WLS was a life style change, I guess I got caught up with my busy life, and forgot to make time for the most important thing- ME!!! I bought a pedometer yesterday, along with a food scale. EVERYTHING will be weighed and measured to ensure that I don't go over 800 calories daily. Fanatical?
Perhaps, but I've got this dress
.... and some shoes that I am looking forward to come June and my 35th birthday!!!
So use me as an example and maintain accountablity of all your choices!!

hey Towana,
I am in a size 14 still, and I have been thinking I am not losing anymore either. I am stalled out...feeling like I am doomed at 198lbs forever. I know we will lose more, but I am like you, I have a date in mind for June, 13th, my 40th birthday! When is yours??
You are doing great!!
I also like hard boiled eggs, usually with a salad and grilled chicken. I can only eat about 1/2, sometimes a whole egg, usually for breakfast.

I must admit the protein shakes are really good- thank God they aren't THAT good!
My B-day is June 23. Deb, I feel like I have not seen you in AGES!!!! When is the next time that you will be able to make a meeting? I will have to plan to attend that night as well!!
May, I KNOW the good feelings that come with putting on clothers that still look like they won't fit!!! How are you feeling?
We miss be like 2 ships passing in the night!

I just logged onto Fitday.com, its da bomb! I love it. I found out that the little saltine crackers I eat to help get my vitamins down, are 13.5 calories each little cracker!! I had about 4 yesterday...and sometimes more!! No more crackers, gotta find something else.
I had 551 calories yesterday...49gms of protein...50 carbs...give or take a few.
Is this good?? I am trying to find something that shows us how much carbs and calories and protein we should have post op???

Hey Deb- Iwill try and make Monday night for a little while... I found something in my file that should help you.
It is recommended that you consume 60g of protein and 20g of fat per day. Try to drink 88-oz glasses of simple, pure water per day. This does not include pop, juice, coffee, tea, or alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages should be avoided or minimized during your weight loss endeavor. I also spoke to Tonya Sipman and says that at 4-6 months out we should be consuming 600-800 calories daily. In terms of protein, we should have at least 60 grams but closer to 1/2 of your goal weight. For example:
Goal weight= 150 /2= 75 grams daily.
Yesterday I ended up with about 596 calories and 79 grams of protein, 21 gr carbs, and 20 fat grams.
Today we had a "grazing" at work and I indulged in some meatballs. I had 4 small-medium ones that added up to 346 calories!! I couldn't believe it, but 31 grams of protein. So I will be careful for the rest of the day. This week has taught me not to go past 800 and to be mindful of my intake!!

YOU'RE LOW, GIRL ... YOU SHOULD BE AT 800 - 1,000 CALORIES A DAY & NO LESS THAN 60 GRAMS OF PROTEIN ... SOME OF THE GIRLS & GUYS ON THE OCT BOARD ARE GOING FOR 90 - 100 GRAMS OF PROTEIN W/ HEAVY EXERCISE.
IF YOU USE MS SHEILA'S EQUATION OF HALF YOUR WEIGHT, YOU SHOULD BE HAVING 99 GRAMS OF PROTEIN A DAY.
DO YOU SPLIT YOUR CARBS INTO SUGAR CARBS & COMPLEX CARBS? SUGAR CARBS (BAD) LIKE IN BREADS & CRACKERS & CHIPS & WHITE VEGES LIKE POTATOS, GRITS & ALSO IN PASTA ... COMPLEX CARB (GOOD) LIKE IN GREEN VEGES. I THINK YOUR CARBS ARE HIGH.
I WAS TOLD THAT THIS FAR OUT, IF YOU ARE ONLY TAKING IN 500 OR SO CALORIES, YOUR BODY WILL GO INTO THE STARVATION MODE & STOP YOU FROM LOSING WEIGHT.
LOOK BACK TO MS SHEILA'S POST TO MS TOWANA ... SHE HAS SOME FIGURES IN THAT POST.

This is the equation Towana suggested:
4-6 months out you should be consuming 600-800 calories daily. In terms of protein, you should have at least 60 grams but closer to 1/2 of your goal weight.
For example:
GOAL WEIGHT= 150 /2= 75 grams daily.
Key word here is "GOAL WEIGHT"
Just thought when you read the equation you might have over looked that it was goal weight instead of current weight.
