I'm not losing .. why?!!
I'm almost 6 weeks out and I've lost 35 1/2 lbs or 37 lbs depending on which day I look at the scales. I'm eating what I'm supposed to (though I hardly have any kind of appetite), getting my water in, drinking my protein drinks, eating 1 protein bar a day and walking 2 miles. What am I doing wrong? YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG, MS CRYSTAL. AT 6 WEEKS, I HAD LOST 34.40 #s. DURING THE 1st 60 DAYS, I LOST WEIGHT 22 DAYS (11 IN THE 1st 30 DAYS & 11 IN THE 2nd 30 DAYS) & DID NOT LOSE 38 DAYS OUT OF THOSE 1st 60 DAYS. I DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOUR PROGRESS AT ALL; YOU'RE RIGHT ON SCHEDULE, IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME.
I'M ON AN 18-DAY STALL RIGHT NOW ... THAT'S JUST THE LUCK OF THE DRAW ... IT'S YOUR BODY READJUSTING ITSELF & THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO EXCEPT MAKE SURE YOUR CONTINUE TO GET YOUR FLUIDS, PROTEIN & EXERCISE ... IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BEGIN TO LOSE AGAIN WHEN YOUR BODY IS READY.
NOW IS THE TIME YOUR BODY IS REDISTRIBUTING THE REMAINING FAT, SHRINKING IN SIZE & BALANCING IT'S NUTRIENTS. YOU CAN'T FORCE WEIGHT LOSS BY STARVING SO DON'T EVEN TRY. THAT WILL DO JUST THE OPPOSITE AS WE ARE ALREADY EATING SO LITTLE. AT 6 WEEKS OUT, YOU SHOULD BE BETWEEN 500-800 CALORIES A DAY OTHERWISE YOUR BODY WILL BEGIN TO GO INTO THE STARVATION MODE & HOLD ONTO THE FAT LONGER.
BUT, WHEN HAVE YOU EVER LOST NEARLY 40 #s IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME & KEPT IT OFF BEFORE? ME? NEVER! BEFORE SURGERY, IT TOOK ME A YEAR TO LOSE 60 #s ONE TIME ... &, THAT WAS EXERCISING 6-7 DAYS A WEEK. I LOST 50 #s IN 69 DAYS WITH THE SURGERY, SO THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BEST & EASIEST WEIGHT LOSS LIFESTYLE OUT THERE.
START KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS. I LOVE STATISTICS SO I KEEP A DAILY SPREADSHEET. WHEN I "THINK" I'M NOT LOSING, I GO BACK & LOOK ... SOMETIMES IT'S TRUE, BUT SOMETIMES I'M LOSING SLOWLY & IT'S ADDING UP & I JUST DON'T REALIZE IT UNTIL I SEE THE NUMBERS.
ALSO, CHECK YOUR CLOTHING SIZES & MEASUREMENTS. YOU'RE PROBABLY SHRINKING IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF YOUR BODY WHEN YOU AREN'T LOSING ACTUAL POUNDS. YOUR BODY IS NEVER STAGNENT ... IT'S ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING WHILE YOU'RE IN THE "WEIGHT LOSS" STAGES (1 - 2 YEARS POST OP).
PATIENCE, MS CRYSTAL ... YOU'RE DOING WONDERFULLY. SIT BACK & ENJOY THE RIDE. DON'T FRET; THE SURGERY WILL TAKE CARE OF ABOUT 100 #s IF YOU STICK TO THE EATING/EXERCISING PLAN, BUT YOU HAVE TO LET YOUR BODY DO IT ON IT'S OWN TIMETABLE. AFTER THAT 1sT 100 #s, IT WILL GET A BIT HARDER, BUT IT IS VERY DOABLE WITH ADDED EXERCISE & WATCHING NUTRIENT & CAROLIE INTAKE.

MAYBE THOSE NUMBERS WILL HELP PUT THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE BECAUSE I HAD SEVERAL STALLS WITHIN THAT TIME. I ALSO POSTED MY BMI CHANGES ... AS THAT # GETS SMALLER, YOU'RE GETTING HEALTHIER. SO, REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS THAT SHOW US PROGRESS ... WEIGHT LOSS, MEASUREMENTS, CLOTHING SIZES & BMI NUMBERS ... +, IMPROVEMENTS IN YOUR BLOOD & URINE TEST RESULTS ... GETTING OFF MEDICATIONS & CO-MORBS DISAPPEARING LIKE MAGIC ... GETTING OUT OF PAIN ... BEING MORE ACTIVE ... ALL THESE THING, NOT JUST THE POUNDS LOST ... ARE SUCCESSES.

Hang in there Crystal! I've been stuck too, untill yesterday and all of a sudden I'm down 4lbs! Interesting how this weight comes off! Sunday, I ate more than usual, not a lot, but I also worked up a sweat getting ready for our superbowl party and the next day, Bam! Down 4!!
