Experiencing Pain ---Left Rib Area

Ok, so for the last hour i'm having some pain on the left side ( kind of under where my breast is). It is small, but slightly a sharp pain that comes and goes ( kind of like labor contractions..) Anyone experience anything similar?

Heather, Did you eat something too fast or suck in too much air? It sounds like an air pocket. It could be something else, but sometimes I get a sharp pain in that area. I take some pepcid and it goes away, which makes me think it is gas. I did call my doctor about it the first time and he told me that if it lasts for several hours to call him back. It went away, so I didn't call him back. Sometimes, like today, the area around my leftmost incision feels sore, but my dr. told me that was probably tissue healing... I've had the same pain in the exact same place. The first time my surgeon had me come in to have an x-ray. It turned out to be a kidney infection. I still have the pain some and my surgeon is treating me for a possible ulcer. He wants to do a scope if it gets much worse. Good luck and let me know how you are Mary

I too had the same pain. Mine was from constipation and gas after 3 days and milk of magnesia and some gas ex it went away and haven't had it since. Marcey 255/201/150

OOOH, been there done that! It is probably gas. Be careful of what you eat and drink, some veggies cause lots of gas. Hope you feel better Deb

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. Sure enough, the pain went away while i slept and i woke with no pain. I suppose it was gas. It did kind of scare me ya know...when we have pain, and can't really explain it. I didn't hardly eat much at all yesterday so i can't figure what caused it but I do think it was gas.. Just wanted to give you all the heads up that i am ok.
