Hey Everyone, Sorry, busy week! I am on my way now to teach real estate classes too. I just wanted to see how everyone was doing? I posted a question at the bottom of Susann's about meat and feeling sick. Anyone else at this point? I feel "meat-d" out!! Sick of it!! Does this sound crazy? I am looking for some alternative protein sources that are meat free, and low carbs...eh, good luck! We are going to be Summerville-ians this June. We are going to build a house up there, and went to contract on a home last week. Everyone pray for us! Hubby still needs an airline job, so hopefully he will find something soon...or they will call him soon is a better way to put it. I am on my way out til late at night, see everyone at MUSC on Thursday!! Thinking about you all, see ya soon! Deb

Hi Deb - I feel for you - I don't do very well with meat either. Of course, I'm famous for not eating real "food" anyway. I do mostly protein shakes made with Carb Countdown. I really do like them - even crave them. It's fine with Dr. Morgan, but my gp is appalled and it upsets pretty much everybody I know. I take all of my vitamins and supplements religiously and get my fluids in, and my blood tests come back great. I don't advise it for anyone else, but it works for me. I didn't set out to do it this way, I just gravitated towards what made me feel best, and didn't really realize it until someone asked me when the last time was that I ate actual food. I had to think about it. I don't have a plan to do this forever, either. I just take things day by day. I'm far enough out at 14 months that I don't focus on eating. I just live my life. Food makes my pouch feel bad and makes me nauseous. I do eat some food, like scrambled eggs and cheese, a couple of times a week. Every day I eat a container of Carb Control Yogurt with 3 tablespoons of ground flax seed. I do occasionally eat salmon without adding mayo, though I'm aware we have to limit the amount we eat because of mercury. It's very tender and juicy. I like Bumblebee skinless and boneless pink salmon in water. Mostly I bum food from my son and husband - cheese off the top of a pizza or some tomato or melon - whatever looks good. I also eat alot of protein bars. I do cook a balanced meal for them every night. It just usually doesn't appeal to me, but I'll take a few bites. I drink half decaf coffee. I'm bad. I am probably not much help. I don't really get too hungry very often. Solid foods, like meat, or hot food give me the most trouble. I tried salad for the first time not too long ago and it was wonderful. I am mostly conscious of getting alot of protein and very few carbs in, like you. I'm diabetic and while my condition imroved tremendously, I still wear an insulin pump. I take insulin in proportion to the carbs I injest, and it tends to makes you retain weight, so that's why I try to keep them as low as possible. Have you tried cheese sticks? I do pretty well with those. Hardboiled eggs are a love/hate thing for most people, or a dump/not dump, actually. Cottage cheese is supposed to be good, and peanut butter. Some people mix unflavored protein powder into jello and soup, or just about anything they make just to get the extra protein in. I add powdered milk into my protein shakes. You can add a little of it into a lot of things that you eat and it adds up. Dame Tooter has a lot of information on her profile page. You ought to read it, if you haven't already, or post the question to her on the main message board. She's really wonderful and helpful. Look forward to meeting you tomorrow! Love, B

Hey Lady D. I looked around and picked up some special K the other day. It's Special K Protein Plus. It's pretty good. My hubby even got me some raisins to toss on top. It's pretty good too, only 1 carb and 10 grams of protein.
