13 days!!!
OMG!! I can't believe it's 13 days until my surgery. I have been traveling for the last 2-1/2 weeks. I have loads of laundry, a house to clean up, a doctors appointment, pre-op and still have to go to work during this time. Any last minute things that I need to remember??
I'm also a little unnerved with the passing away of my cousin. She had wls last March and had a fatal heart attack on Saturday. She had a lot of co-morbidities, including congestive heart failure (she almost died about 3 years ago, so they put a pacemaker in). I know that she had 9 months feeling better than she had in her entire life, and she always said that she wished that she had done it sooner. She also told me several times not to wait until I had all the medical problems that she had, because it makes everything so much more difficult. But people who don't understand, just associate her death with the surgery....and keep questioning if I am still going through with the surgery. I'm really excited about it, but hate having to keep defending my reasons for having the surgery.
My head is spinning.....
Hugs,
Dianne
Hang in there Dianne. I took the easy way out and just didn't tell anyone at my office (still haven't) because I didn't want to have to defend/talk about my decision - no one can know unless they have been there.
As to last minute things, my best advice is not to stress about it. You can take care of things after the surgery if you have to.

I KNOW YOU ARE EXCITED. I AM SUPPOSE TO HAVE MY SURGERY ON FEB 6, BUT I STILL HAVENT GOTTEN AN APPROVAL FROM INS CO. I CALLED THEM THIS MORNING AND THEY SAID THEY DIDNT HAVE ANY OF MY PAPERWORK. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN SENT IN LAST WEEK. I CALLED JOYCE FROM DR. BYRNE OFFICE AND SHE SAID THEY SHOULD GET IT THIS WEEK. I GUESS IM JUST READY TO GET IT OVER WITH AND START MY NEW LIFE. I JUST CANT WAIT. I HOPE THINGS GO GREAT FOR YOU AND I KNOW YOU FEEL THE SAME AS I DO ABOUT GETTING IT OVER WITH.
JUST TELL THEM THAT YOU REALLY AREN'T UP TO LONG DISCUSSIONS & THAT YOU HOPE THEY WILL RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY WHILE YOU GRIEVE FOR YOUR COUSIN.
THEY SHOULD GET THE MESSAGE ABOUT HOW INSENSITIVE THEY ARE BEING. OUR SOCIETY SURE HAS LOST IT'S SOCIAL GRACES & I'M SORRY THEY ARE PUTTING YOU ON THE SPOT.
GOD BLESS YOU, MS DIANNE

Dianne, so sorry to hear about your cousin...you focus on the advice she left you with..."Don't wait until you have all the medical problems that come with obesity".
I am so excited for you...and can imagine how taxing it must be tring to juggle all you have to do...do what you can, and what you can't will be there for another day.
As far as people associating your cousins passing with wls, you can't control thier thinking...so you just focus on what you know to be true...we are all here for you and praying for you...ALL WILL GO WELL!!!
Big Hugs from Greenville, Tonya
