Why can't see?

I am glad to see that I am not the only one experiencing this "problem". I have lost 55 lbs. in 2 months , however when I look in the mirror, I still "see" the girl at 303 lbs- in a size 26/28 . I kept wondering why my colleagues at work kept "urging" me to maybe do a little shopping- mind you, I knew my clothes were a "little big" , however I knew something was wrong when my 12 year old said, "don't you think it's time for you to go to the store ? " I followed her advice, mainly just to see what size I had become. Remember I said that I used to be a 26/28 not so long ago- well this week I am in a size 18 top and 20 bottoms- COMFORTABLY! Talk about shocked? I WAS- definitely glad but SHOCKED! Needless to say, we went SHOPPING this weekend, nothing overboard, but just a few items to hold me over till the next change! I guess positive affirmations and a good mirror will help with this delayed sight! Happy New Year- and it is Happy! Towana

Towanna, I am having the exact same problem. I know rationally that I am losing weight and look different, but I still see that same sad fat girl. I finally took a picture Friday and sent it to some friends. They were so surprised at how I looked that it helped me. Maybe I will make that trip to the store. I am scared to try things on because they might be the same size. Talk to you soon Mary

May- go to the store. I failed to go to the store for that very same reason! I also brought a full sized mirror to put behind my store- never had one of those until WLS... I bet you'll be surprised!

Yep, me too! I didnt think much about my jeans being loose until my hubby, AKA Mr. Cheapskate, suggested I look for some new smaller ones this week! I dont know why we still see ourselves as fat, especially when we all have these huge amounts of weight off of us! Good job, though, Towana, I bet you look awesome!!! Rebecca

Rebecca- I think it's still that roll of fat that I have right in the middle of my belly that prevents me from seeing my entire foot, not just a part! But there again, i remember a time when I could not see my foot at all- so this is progress and I am not complaining!!! Towana

Hey girl. Granted I haven't lost as much as you have though I can completely understand what you mean. I know that I am losing weight. Even my hubby has mentioned it. But I don't see it. As far as I can tell I look exactly the same. Frustrating as hell if you ask me.

I INSPECT MY NEW BODY TO SEE WHAT HE SEES & WHEN I REALLY LOOK, I BEGIN TO SEE THOSE WONDERFUL CHANGES & I FEEL THAT SASSY, CONFIDENT, CALM YET ENERGETIC PERSON WHO COULD WHIP THE WORLD COMING BACK. BUT, I HAVE TO MAKE THAT EXTRA EFFORT ABOVE & BEYOND EATING & DRINKING CORRECTLY TO CHANGE MY MIND SET ABOUT WHAT I LOOK LIKE & WHO I AM BECOMING. Something to add to all this is that I don't know how to shop in the misses department. I know where all the women's departments are, the names of who to buy and the sizes, but when they start falling off and I have to look in the misses I'm lost and a little scared because if almost feels as though I don't have the choices I had before. Is that weird!! Yesterday though I bought two pairs of slacks at Sears in misses 18's what a feeling, I'm almost afraid to wear them.
