I have had a very bad time. I had my surgery on the 20th came home on the 23rd. On Christmas Day I was very ill. Finally ended up going to the emerency room @ MUSC on the 27th and got readmitted into the hospital until the 29th. Bad infection where my drain tube came out. Infection in my kidneys and bladder. I felt like I was dying.

Yes, I am feeling much better and I am losing. I have lost about 20 lbs so far, but that was mostly all lost in the first week. I CAN NOT EAT PUREED FOODS! Thanks for all the support. Theresa

HI THERESA I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER TODAY. ARE YOU STILL NOT ABLE TO EAT PUR FOODS? IT SEEMS REALLY SCAREY KNOWING THAT YOU CAN GET SO SICK LIKE THAT. MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR FEB 6, 2006. I HOPE EVERYTHING GETS BETTER FOR YOU AND I HOPE MINE GOES WELL TOO!

I do not think you will get an infection, it does not to be very common as I did not read about anyone having something like this. I think it was because of my catheter. I had no symptoms except abdominal pain and fever and the fever stayed around 101.4 or less. So, as you know I did not go to the hospital as soon as I should have. Don't be scared of infection, out of all the people I know who have had this I am the only one that got an infection. As far as the surgery I had no problems. My incisions did not cause much pain. If I didn't have an infection I would have been feeling good within the week of surgery. You will be fine. Theresa

SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE FEELING BETTER! 20 #s IS GREAT, MS THERESA! CONGRATULATIONS! NOT TO WORRY, YOUR BODY IS JUST TAKING TIME TO ADJUST & SHRINK A BIT. REMEMBER, THIS IS A "LOSE & SHRINK" PROCESS. I'VE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES SO FAR ... 3 TIMES I THINK ... 11 DAYS, 9 DAYS & 5 DAYS ... BUT THEN, THE LOSING STARTS AGAIN & OFF WE GO ON ANOTHER CYCLE. TRY CREAMED SOUPS ... THEY WORKED GREAT FOR ME! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

Thanks for all the support! I just wanted to post this because I had not read anywhere about anyone getting an infection after surgery and I do not want to scare people but I think people should know that there is a possibility of infection with surgery. I may had already been getting an infection prior to surgery for all I know. I am just so glad it is over and when I get through this pureed stage life will be GREAT!!
