Well, I went in on Friday (Dec 23, 2005) for my WLS at MUSC. All went well and I am home today (Dec 26, 2005) with my family. Thanks for all the notes, well wishes and prayers. I will keep everyone updated on how I'm doing Post-Op.

Congratulations David. I want to welcome you to the beginning of a new life that will improve many aspects of your life. I started to notice improvements as soon as I got home...no more swelling in my legs, and the thoughts of a healthier life were just mind bogling. You take it easy and follow your doctor's care and you will reap the benefits. Again congratulations to the new you. Merlon

I SOOOOO AGREE, MS MERLON ... EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE HAS IMPROVED & IN VERY SHORT TIME ... STARTING AT 3 & 4 WEEKS POST-OP! MY HANDS, LEGS & FEET DON'T SWELL ANY MORE EITHER ... I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT ... &, I'VE BEEN OFF DIURETICS FOR 5 WEEKS. I CAN SPIN MY RINGS ON MY FINGERS INSTEAD OF THEM DIGGING INTO MY SKIN. MY SHOES ARE LOOSE. I SLEEP BETTER & WAKE UP MORE REFRESHED ... ASK NICK ... IT WOULD TAKE ME 2 HOURS TO "WAKE UP" IN THE MORNING PRE-OP. MY CHOLESTEROL IS NORMAL, NORMAL, NORMAL EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN OFF MEDS FOR 5 WEEKS; IT HASN'T BEEN NORMAL IN DECADES ... MY EKG LOOKED GOOD ... MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS NORMAL EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN OFF THOSE MEDS FOR 5 WEEKS AS WELL. I NO LONGER HAVE DAILY LIFE-LIMITING DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS, LOWER INTESTINE PAIN, CRAMPS OR DIAREAHA. MY HORRIBLE REFLUX/GERD IS COMPLETELY UNDER CONTROL (I'M JUST NERVOUS ABOUT NOT TAKING THESE MEDS EVEN THOUGH DOC SAYS HE DOESN'T THINK I NEED THEM. AFTER THIS BOTTLE, I'M GOING TO QUIT TAKING THEM & SEE WHAT HAPPENS). MY JOINT PAIN HAS DEMINISHED 98% & INSTEAD OF 8-10 DOSES OF PAIN MEDS A DAY, I MAY HAVE TO TAKE 1 DOSE EVERY 5-7 DAYS AT MOST. NOW THAT MY HEART RATE MED DOSAGE IS BETTER REGULATED, MY ENERGY & STAMINA ARE FINALLY IMPROVING SLOWLY BUT SURELY & I'M DOING CHORES & ACTIVITIES THAT I HAD TO GIVE UP BEFORE. I NEVER THOUGHT I'D GET EXCITED BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO DO MORE HOUSEWORK!!!! &, THE BEST THING ... I'M NEVER HUNGRY ... I'M NEVER FULL or OVER-FULL. FOOD DOESN'T RULE MY LIFE ... I ACTUALLY HAVE TO REMIND MYSELF TO EAT. WITH ALL THE EXTRA TIME I NOW HAVE BECAUSE I'M NOT DEALING WITH FOOD ISSUES 24 HOURS A DAY, I'M NOW BEGINNING TO DO OTHER ACTIVITIES I'D GIVEN UP ON. SO, WHAT HAS IMPROVED IN Y'ALLS LIVES SINCE WLS? HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE DAWN & NICK

Welcome to the losing side David. Glad to hear all went well - aren't they wonderful at MUSC! When you are up and going I hope you can join us at our Thursday night get together. We have anywhere from 1 to 5 men who join us (though only 1 of them has had surgery). Susann
