Approved Medications
Carla,
This is a "do not" list from one of the gals on the singles board. She has a website called theroadtothin.com that has A LOT of information on it. (I'm pre-op, so I like to read up on EVERYTHING....but I don't have the actual experience to go with it!!) Hope it helps:
No Advil, Asprin, Alieve, etc.: No NSAIDS (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Most surgeons instruct you to never take asprin, advil, alieve, and other such drugs again. The ingredients in these medications can harm your pouch by increasing the risk of and/or contribute to an ulcer. Obviously an ulcer occurring in our tiny new stomachs is a bad thing. I think I even read in someone's profile that they had to have a reversal because an ulcer basically caused her to have no stomach left. I think there are other medical reasons why these medications need to be avoided -- but I am not familiar with them. When you put "NO NSAIDS" on your medical charts and medical ID bracelets -- this is what you are referring to.
