Need your opinion please

Friday night I went to our office Christmas party. Of course I looked better that I did last year, I'm 56 pounds lighter. What really bothers me is that there are people in our office who talk to me now who didn't before WLS. In particular there is one man who has never spoken to me before who went on and on about how great I looked and what have I been doing and in general somewhat flirting. I just wanted to say to him "I am the same person that I was 56 pounds ago, why are you talking to me now." This is really bothering me, what are your opinions?

I think that he is a jerk but unfortunately people are very prejudiced against overweight people. I would just snub him now! Susann

i agree with Susann darlin. You are a very sweet person no matter the size, he isn't worth your time. Course you already know that. You are doing great!

I too was at this party. This gentleman laid on the charm with me as well. I have been invited to fly all over th country and to Europe with him! He kept telling both May and I how great we looked. It was a bit flattering at first, but them I became very upset at the thought that he noticed me NOW! How completely small minded. Needless to say, I will fit much more comfortably in a plane seat, but I will never be sitting beside him to fly anywhere. People have just started to react to my weight loss and I hope there won't be many more like him! I know May and she is one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. This surgery just makes her feel about herself what everyone else already knows about her!

You are too too sweet. One of the things that I am most thankful that the surgery has given me is a group of wonderful, supportive, and nonjudgemental friends. We are such a diverse group yet each one of us provide support and help to each other. Thanks to all of you

THERE IS A STORY ABOUT A SNAKE & A SCORPION. THE SCORPION ASKS THE SNAKE IF IT CAN SIT ON ITS BACK WHILE THE SNACK SWIMS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER. THE SNAKE TELLS THE SCORPION ONLY IF THE SCORPION PROMISES NOT TO STING HIM. THE SCORPION PROMISES & WHEN THEY COME TO THE MIDDLE OF THE RIVER, THE SCORPION STINGS THE SNAKE. AS THE SNAKE IS DYING, IT ASKS THE SCORPION WHY IT STUNG HIM BECAUSE NOW THEY WILL BOTH DIE AS THE SCORPION CAN'T SWIM & WILL DROWN. THE SCORPION RELIED, "I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF; IT IS MY NATURE." THIS IS THE BURDEN & PAIN OF PEOPLE WHO ARE "DIFFERENT" ... "NORMAL" PEOPLE WHO LACK TRUE CHARACTER IGNORE, SHUN, MAKE FUN OF &, IN GENERAL, MAKE "OUR" LIVES MISERABLE BY MAKING SURE WE KNOW WE AREN'T ACCEPTED. THINK OF THE CHILD WHO IS THE 1st TO HAVE TO WEAR GLASSES ... OR HAVE TO WEAR BRACES ... OR WALKS WITH A LIMP ... THE CRITICAL ATTITUDES THE "NORMAL" CHILDREN GROW UP WITH MOVE INTO THEIR ADULTHOOD. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT "WE DIFFERENT" PEOPLE ARE REALLY THE "NORMAL" ONES AS WE HAVE LIVED WITH PAIN SO MOST OF US HAVE GROWN INTO WONDERFULLY CARING, SWEET-SPIRITED PEOPLE *****ACH OUT TO OTHERS NO MATTER WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE OR HOW DIFFERENT THEY ARE. THERE WOULD BE NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU TELLING YOUR FEELINGS/OPINIONS TO THE GENTLEMAN, BUT DO SO IN A KIND MANNER GIVING HIM AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN & GROW & BECOME A BETTER MAN. SPEAK TO HIM FROM YOUR HEART; NOT FROM THE PAIN HE CAUSED YOU. IF HE CONTINUES ON HIS HURTFUL WAY, THEN AT LEAST YOU HAVE TRIED TO SHOW HIM A BETTER WAY TO TREAT OTHERS. You are so so right. Sometimes I get upset with my husband because he doesn't comment too much on my weight loss. He then tells me that he has always loved me, no matter what size. He tells me that he is just glad to see me happier and healthier. I still think that Nick may get the prize for supportive husband of the year, but my sweetie is pretty good too.

NO MATTER HOW MANY WAYS I TRY, I CAN NOT EVER EXPRESS JUST HOW GOOD A HUSBAND NICK IS TO ME ... HE'S THE TYPE OF MAN WHO MAKES ME WANT TO BE A BETTER PERSON BECAUSE OF THE UNBELIEVABLE TENDERNESS OF HIS HEART. OF COURSE I "KNOW" THAT HE IS "THE BEST HUSBAND EVER", BUT SWEETHEART, WHEN ANY OF US HAVE HUSBANDS WHO LOVE US UNCONDITIONIALLY EVEN WITH OUR OBVIOUS WEIGHT ISSUES, THAT IS THE "BEST" HUSBAND ANY OF US COULD HAVE.
