4 days til surgery!! I am getting very nervous. HELP!!
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I hope you will be able to join us after the holidays at one of our Lowcountry Bypass Buddies support group meetings. We are a terrific group of people and it is so helpful to be around others *****ally understand what this experience is all about. We laugh and commiserate with each other and have grown to be great friends. Ken is right. You'll be beginning a new life and that's very intimidating. I'm almost 13 months out now and have completely adjusted to my new ways. Everything seems normal to me now. I am not obsessing over every ounce of water or gram of protein. Sticking to my program has become habit to me and makes me feel terrific and I am living my life. Not to say that I am perfect and haven't had a slip along the way or two. I am healthy and happy and have lost 108 lbs. I want to lose maybe 15 more. I have not met one person nor heard of many who wouldn't do the surgery again. It is truly a blessing. After surgery, just take it a day at a time and don't push yourself too hard. Follow the plan and you will be fine. Dr. Morgan told me that getting fluids in was the most important thing. Remember that this is a major shock to your body. Some people bounce back very quickly and others take a bit longer. Try not to compare yourself to others. This isn't a race. While all of this will become routine to you in time, you are going to be making major adjustments for awhile. Be gentle with yourself. We all worry that we will be the one who won't be able to do it or that it won't work for us. You are going to be successful - have no doubt. When you have questions, and everyone does, call MUSC, or jump on this message board, and you will have help and support before you know it!! You are not alone. We are all cheering for you and admire your courage for taking this step. Best of luck to you. See you on the losing side!
Love, B
