Hi, I have just moved to North Augusta,S.C. I still have no approval or denial for my surgery yet.Just thought i would post and see if there are any people from my area.....Please say a prayer for me I am so impatient waiting on this insurance thing....God Bless You All!!!!!!!

Hello Janet - COlumbia here, so not too far away! I know that this whole process can be taxing on ones emotions and PATIENCE but time will tell and it will all work out how it should. Please post away and be active here.

Lady D- I am not sure why I was denied. The Insurance Lady was new and said she asked her supervisor what to do and he told her to deny me, based on the fact that I didn't meet the criteria. However, my PCP and my surgeon said I did meet the criteria, 100 lbs overweight and sleep apnea and high blood pressure... I appealed and hopefully will find out if I am approved soon. IF YOU'RE DENIED AGAIN, CARLA ... HAVE YOUR INSURANCE REP SEND YOU A LETTER/FAX/EMAIL STATING EXACTLY WHAT PART OF THE WLS CRITERIA YOU DON'T MEET. IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THE WRONG REFERRAL CODE TO MISSING PAPERWORK, BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO FIX THE ERROR TO GET APPROVED. IT MAY BE HARD TO DRAG THE INFO OUT OF THEM, BUT DEMAND IT BE SENT TO YOU/YOUR SURGEON IN WRITING. FOR INSTANCE, WITH TRI CARE, IF YOUR PCM (PRIMARY CARE MANAGER = YOUR PRIMARY DOCTOR) REFERS YOU AS AN "EVAL" INSTEAD OF AN "EVAL & TREAT" THEY WILL DENY YOU WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS. THAT'S HOW SMALL A MISTAKE CAN GET YOU A DENIAL. DON'T GIVE UP ... GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
