Anyone from the UPSTATE around here?

I think it's great you all in the lowcountry have each other and can get together, but what about us in the upper part of the state? I think I saw someone from around here but I can't remember who it was. My surgeon is in Anderson and they get together on the first Thursday of each month, well would you believe I haven't been to one since? I can't remember to check the calendar. I wish they would plan it on an actual date. Anyway, I want to see if there are people who just want to get together and share recipes, shakes or even appitizers. Hey Dawn, I live in the Upstate!! I live in Boiling Springs and work in Greenville (and yes, gas is killing me!!). I also do some traveling for my company and find myself in Charleston (supposed to be there Thursday and Friday), Columbia, Savannah and Atlanta (at least the gas is paid for when I'm traveling). I don't know how much help I can be, as I haven't even been to a lecture yet, but it is scheduled at Spartanburg Regional/Dr. Paul Ross on September 21. Right now, I'm just learning from others. Hi Dawn, I am in Greer, SC. My floating surgery date is the 26th of this month but since my insurance company keeps saying they have not received the predetermination of benefits I think it may take longer than I hoped to get approved. Anywho, I hope you will be better able to tollerate food soon. Becky

Becky, I read about how you saw the different doctors before deciding on Dr. Ross. That was very helpful to me in deciding where to start. I keep hearing on these boards that you have to stay on the insurance companies (they don't get info or need something else, etc.) so keep on pushing it. I'll keep you in my prayers.... Hi Dawn,I am in Union,SC...Hoping to have surgery 1 day,but I don't have insurance,so right now I'm just researching and reading all I can about this surgery.I don't know what surgeon to use,but a girl I met on MSN boards went to Dr.Espinal in Rock Hill.I was actually getting ready to call Spartanburg Hospital to see when Dr.Ross's next seminar is,but thanks to Dianne (who posted a reply to your post),I now know the next 1 will be Sept.21(these boards r great)!! So I will call and sign up for that one.I wonder what your surgeon charges for self-payers.I know it's alot less than they charge insurance patients,so I think I will post that question on the SC boards and see if anyone has self-payed.Well I hope you are doing okay and I will keep you in my prayers....Kristie(hoping&praying to be on the losing side 1 day!!)

Kristie, Glad that I could help you out on the seminar for Dr. Ross!! It is at 6:30 that night. I have no idea on self pay amounts. I'm depending on insurance....no insurance, no surgery. Hey Dawn! I would be very interested in getting a group together. On the main board there are several groups that get together in other states and regions and some of their pictures look like they are having a ball. Maybe we could start out with suggestion of a place and date and see what type of gatherings we want to have. Feel free to e-mail me directly and maybe we can exchange numbers.
