FYI
I'M 9 DAYS AWAY FROM MY INITIAL CONSULTATION W/ DR BYRNES. I HAVE GOTTEN SO MUCH FANTASTIC INFORMATION ON THE MESSAGE BOARD & FROM MEMBER'S PROFILE/JOURNAL ENTRIES THAT I HAVE STARTED A NOTEBOOK OF SORTS IN MY PC. WHEN I FIND SOMETHING ... LIKE ABOUT WHAT TO EAT, OR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY ... THEN I JUST COPY & PAST THE INFO INTO MY NOTES INSTEAD OF RELYING ON MY MEMORY. IT IS A FANTASTIC REMINDER TOOL.
BEST TO ALL ... DAWN
Hi Dawn. I am having surgery with Dr. Byrnes. Schedule for October 7th, but don't have insurance approval yet Am fully prepared to til the cows come home, but hope I won't have to.
There is a group of us who get together periodically in this area. If you are interested we can let you know next time we meet.
Good luck with your preliminary visit and hope to meet you one day soon.
Susann
THANKS MS SUSANN ...
HEY, YOU HAVEN'T COME THIS FAR FOR SOME PENCIL-PUSHER TO TELL YOU "NO" SO KEEP ON GOIN' FORWARD!
FROM THE TIME OF YOUR INITIAL VISIT W/ DR B, HOW FAR OUT WERE THEY SCHEDULING SURGERY? I HEAR ABOUT 4 MONTHS.
THE 7th IS A GOOD DATE, 7 IS GOD'S NUMBER "OF COMPLETION" ... WOWOW! YOU'LL BE MADE COMPLETE WITH THIS SURGERY, RIGHT?!?
SURE, LET ME KNOW ABOUT THE MEETINGS.
DAWN
When I saw Dr. Byrne they were only about 6 weeks out surgery wise. They have a new doc coming on (may already be there), and Dr. Byrne said their schedule was going to get better from here. I actually had a 9/14 date (after seeing him the end of July), but had to change for work reasons.
We aren't meeting this Thursday (Lori is out of town). We have been meeting somewhere in the north area (we've done Applebee's a few times, O'Charlies, etc.). We will probably meet again next week and I will let you know.
Thanks for the encouraging words. This site is great support wise.... Hope to see you soon.
Susann
WOW, MS SUSANN, THAT IS FAST. I WANT TO DO SOME REALLY HEAVY "SPRING CLEANING" (YEAH, I KNOW IT'S LATE SUMMER ) SO I BETTER GET MOVIN'!!!!!!
I TALKED TO THE RED CROSS & THEY SAID THAT I COULD "DONATE" BLOOD FOR MYSELF ... &, OTHERS (FAMILY, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS) COULD AS WELL. THEN, IF YOU DON'T NEED THE BLOOD FOR YOUR OWN SURGERY, IT WOULD BE USED FOR SOMEONE IN NEED. HAS THIS BEEN BROUGHT UP DURING DR VISITS?
DAWN
PS: THANKS BRITT, FOR THE INFO ON YOUR SUPPORT GRP MEETINGS
A WLS dictionary?? Thank you for the compliment Britt
I have researched till I am crossed eyed staring at the computer screen. I get on aol to "research" the heck with chatting any more LOL
Was glad to hear that you got to talk with Ted. Must have felt great to hear his voice.
So...how are you holding up??? Getting excited? Nervous? Anytime you want to talk, or come over on the weekend to visit, just let me know. Your emotions are going to be all over the place, and I can certainly help you gain some direction....(stare at my face and focus) after that you are on your own
Lori
Hi Dawn!
Welcome to this great site! We are working to get it more active and it has come a long way in a couple of weeks!!
Where in Summerville do you live? I live off of Butternut Road, near Pinewood Prep school. Am a yankee, of course
We are meeting this Thursday, Sept 1st at applebee's on Rivers Avenue....can you join us? You can fill us in on how your consultation went.
My doctor, Dr. Strickland in Columbia, suggested I donute two pints of blood, just in case. He said that is a recommendation for anyone having any type of surgery. Most cases it isn't used, and if they don't use it, you get a credit on your hospital bill. I'll take the credit if I have a choice! haha
Hope to hear from you soon,
Lori
