Just about S.C!!
Hey everyone! Im from PA, and this isnt a question related to obesity, but to location! Im thinking of moving down south, and would love anyones input on nice neighborhoods, cost of living, anything really!!
I couldn't begin to think of where to start looking, but then I thought of all the great people on this site, what a better place to start!
I would really love to live near the water, help anyone??
thanks much!!!

Hey Michelle!
SC is a great place to consider. When you say near water I automatically think of the coast. But we also have many man-made lakes all over the state that would be good choices as well.
My sis lives in Charleston and LOVES it! Cost of living seems a bit higher to me but it may be lower than where you are now. YOu might do a google search for cost of living calculators and you can compare from your city to several of ours.
Other coastal areas to check are Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Edisto and there are several island communities surrounding Charleston that are great. It all depends on your taste in environment.
Other areas surround Lake Marion (low to mid state), Lake Murray( mid-state) and Lake Keowi or Hartwell (upstate) near the mountains.
I live in "the upstate". Simpsonville is a rapidly growing town on the edge of the larger city of Greenville. We can go boating or be in the mountains in 1/2 an hour.
Every area has is pluses and minus. I assume this decision also depends on your profession. Larger cities in the state are GReenville, Columbia (the capital) and Charleston. Aiken is also nice on southern charm...not sure abou****er features.
I don't have children so I am not a good judge on school issues.
Feel free to e-mail me with specific questions and i will try to find answers for you.
Good luck!
Leisa
Hi Michelle. There are so many areas of SC that are great. But, I live in Clover SC, about 15 miles south of Charlotte NC. We're about halfway between the beach and the mountains, and close to a couple of big lakes (Lake Wylie and Lake Norman). I've lived in other states, but finally had to come back home because I missed this area so much.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
