Insurance wont cover any weight loss help

I called my ins since i was goignt o talk to the neurologist about the surgery tomorrow and i found out they do not cover any weight loss help surgical or non surgical. This sucks. I have a medical condition that will be cured with weight loss but im having trouble losing weight. I have united healthcare which i know someone else had it covered by them but they wont do it due to something with the state of ga. We are on the state health benefit plan. I wonder if i could re-qualify for medicaid and see if they would pay for it.

Appeal, Appeal, Appeal it is a pain but eventually you can break them down. Alot of companies will reconsider and than approve.

You can appeal even if they dont cover it? I didnt know that. It would be in their best interest to give me the surgery rather than paying for a brain shunt and repeated spinal taps.

Make sure that if you appeal it that you include all of your illnesses that are caused by the excess weight, and how much more money the insurance company will have to pay out due to these illnesses. If you have been on a physician supervised diet include that as well, and any gym records if you have been to the gym. Ask your doctor to help you out with this too. Britt
