ok i have bcbs of S.C. and of course they have a written exclusion ! had anyone had an experience with getting a written exclusion from them approved? I am sooooooo discouraged, and cant afford to self pay. If you can offer me any info please do so..... thank you!!!!!! Deana

Your best bet is to talk with your HR department through where you have insurance as it's really the company who decides what they will cover and not the insurance company. Good luck!

Deana, working in the medical insurance field, and talking with my reps from BCBS of SC there isn't away to get this approved. I am not sure if there is anything that can be done if it is a life or death issue. I can ask them and again next week and let you know.

it is up to the employer to add a rider to the policy to have the exclusion lifted and the benefit applied. bcbs-sc added the exclusion jan.1, 05. there are talks between the surgeons in sc and the medical director of bcbs-sc going on but it does not look promising that it will be changed for '06.
