For all you post ops out there. Here is the $100,000 question. What vitamins do you use? I'm having surgery on 7/6/06 and trying to get things together. I've already bought a sample of differint protein shakes. I've tried some. Now I need to get the vitamins. I've heard quite a few people using flintstone vitamins. Thanks for the help Wendy

Hey, Wendy! I'm in the process of switching my vitamins to Vista Vitamins. You can order them from Bariatric Eating dot com. Plus I take a Vitamin C and chewable iron at lunch time. Hope this helps!! Hugs, Connie

Originally I used Gummi Vits that I got at Sams they are like Gummi Bears and are for children they were easy to disolve and did not consume space. Than I started using the Spring Valley brand at Walmart they are small and coated and go down very easy. I take a multiple Vitamin, B-12, Iron and Tums for calcium. The bottles of Spring Valley show the actual size and all are smaller than an asprin. Dr Strickland ran a complete blood history on me about three months post op and all of my levels were normal. He said that what I was taking was working. (watch the Gummi Vits with kids they think they are candy)

during the first 4-8wk. post op you want an adult chewable vitamin with the full range of minerals which is why a childrens vit. is not really sufficient. you can use a centrum chewable or bariatric advantage chewable. after the first month or two you want an adult swallow vitamin preferably in capsule form, rather than caplet. you also want 1000mcg. of sublingual B12 (not liquid or swallow b12) and you want 1500mg. of calcium citrate - not calcium carbonate (not viactiv, tums, etc) typically iron is prescribed when needed. the calcium, b12 and multi is just normal daily consumption. 2 vits - 1000b12 - 1500calcium.
