medical alert bracelets
Hi, Wendy! Congrats on your surgery date!! You'll be a loser real soon!!
I wear a medical bracelet. I have my surgeons name and phone number on it and a note to not do a blind ng tube and that I'm a bariatric surgery patient. If you go to Laura's Hope dot com, she has some real pretty ones.
Best of luck to you!!! Hugs, Connie
Wendy I got you some information here:
Medic Alert Bracelet or Pendant (necklace). Once you're postop, get this ASAP. If you put it off, you'll forget. While the "pendant" (necklace) is less conspicuous than a bracelet, and no one will see it until the handsome paramedic opens your shirt in the ambulance, one of the first things that they do is insert an IV into your wrist, so a bracelet will be seen more quickly. We all hope we're never in a car wreck or other accident. But if you are knocked unconscious you will be UNABLE to tell them about your surgery. Your alert needs to say: "GASTRIC BYPASS - DO NOT BLINDLY PLACE NG TUBE - USE ENDOSCOPY". Good idea if you do not want a perforated pouch. (ouch!!) Two best sites found to order these are: www.escopes.com where pendants with your medical info range from $17 up. The other one is www.sos-talisman.com where you can get a pendant with your medical info for $22. Another site is www.oneida-medical-jewelry.com.
I've seen this worded differently someplace but can't remember where, but it's more like this:
"GASTRIC BYPASS - No NG TUBE w/o ENDOSCOPY"
