ot - need advice from sc folk.....
hello fellow carolinians! my husband and i are from north carolina and plan on heading to your fine state this summer for our vacation. we normally go to myrtle beach, but were thinking about a couple of other places. out of the following 3 destinations, what are the pros and cons for each and which place would you suggest we visit? we're both young, newlyweds (less than 2 years). we want to go someplace to relax, yet we also want to visit a place that has plenty of things to do - a 'night life' i guess. thanks in advance for any suggestions you could give!

Hello,
If you're looking for a lot of night life and commercialization, then Myrtle Beach is the way to go. Nothing compares to stuff to do like ol' MB. However, if you've never been to Charleston, then that's a great trip too. Lots to do there too. Hilton Head is relaxing, but not nearly as much to do as MB. I like Edisto Beach myself...nothing to do but relax. Hope this helps. I'm going in for the procedure Wednesday so if you have any more questions, I'll help you out after I get home (hopefully by Saturday night). Enjoy your trip to SC and spend lots of money...we need it down here!

I would advise you if you've never been to Charleston-then go! There is alot to do there, shopping, dinner, tours, outdoor markets, horse and buggy rides for two, etc-but my all time favorite thing to do is to go down to "the battery", on the waterfront-overlooking the Atlantic Ocean...where the tree's overhang and everythings is shady, with benches and picnic tables, and just sit and read a book! The houses down at the battery are so beautiful-looks like a page right out of GONE WITH THE WIND. Charleston is a beautiful, peaceful & relaxing place~and one of the most romantic places in the US! I'm not crazy about Myrtle beach-too busy for me and my family, but we DO like to go to N. Myrtle beach where its much more laid-back.Hope you have a great Anniversary wherever you decide to go..
Well...I am a tad bit prejudiced since I reside in Charleston now. (I moved down here in July of last year) because it is so peacfull and I love the water. Charleston holds a TON of history and old architecture. It is also a "college town" so it does have its night life. I recommend maybe staying in a bed and breakfast or one of the many hotels downtown that are full of charm. There are several working plantations here such as Drayton Hall Plantation and a few others where Gone With the Wind was filmed. Now something I do need to warn you about. Charleston can be hot and humid during the summer. We have plenty of water breezes, but be prepared to sweat. We also have tons of beaches Folly Beach and Isle of Palms, or Sullivan's Island that are ideal for that local tan. Well good luck...and if your gonna stay in Charleston you may want to book your trip now...we are a Tourist Meca and fill up quickly. Bye
