I just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I made it through surgery just fine. I had surgery on March 15th and was released to come home today. I was able to have it laproscopic and I thank God for that. I am a little uncomfortable but no major pain to speak of. I am getting up and walking as much as possible. I am also trying to get the applesauce and juice in. I am having more difficulty with that because I am just not hungry at all. I am also still bloated from he gas and IV's. I'm more tired than I thought I would be so I am trying to make sure I take things easy. I just wanted to touch base with everyone. Thanks for all of the prayers.

Hey Patti, I was so glad to hear from your husband that you were all right and that you were able to have the lap Roux en Y. I know what you mean about feeling tired. I was at Dr. Byrne's office today for my post op visit. Got my drain out, thank God. It was a nuisance. Glad to be rid of it. Take it easy. Your strength will come back. Lets try to keep each other posted and pumped on our journeys. Talk to you later, Nancy

Hi Nancy. I go Monday to get my drain out. I am still getting about 1 to 1 1/2 oz. each time I drain it which is three times a day. Sometimes it looks like there are clots in there. I was feeling real good and then this afternoon I could feel a fever coming on. I just took my temp and it is 99.2. The book said I am supposed to call the dr. if it reaches 101. I hope nothing is wrong. I am having a very hard time getting the food and drink in. I'm just not hungry. I'm having a hard time with the protein too. What are you eating to get yours in? I'm going to get under the covers because I am cold. I will talk to you later.

Hi Patti and Mommie Zombie. My surgery was done on Monday(3/14) with Dr. Morgan here at MUSC. I just wanted to see how you were doing. I live in West Ashley and it is always nice to see local people. I am actually back to work full time. I had the Lap RNY and so far only a small complication being one of my lap sites is infected. As long as I keep it clean and air it out occasionally it is fine. Anything I can help you with? I bought some Protein powder from Vitamin Shoppe it is their store brand and only cost me 7.00. It has 17gms of Protein. I just mix it with Frozen strawberries and a cup of skim milk and maybe 4oz of cottage cheese for extra protein. You actually don't taste the cottage cheese, it just gives it that smooth feel to it. It is good. Just stick in there and write me back if you need me. I carry a beeper around that I have set for the times I need to snack to remind me. I wasn't very hungry at first, but the farther along I get the more head hunger I have. That is resolved with drinking water and taking in protein. I have dumped once and that was because I ate two Calcium Citrate pills at the same time and that was too much for my system. It isn't a fun feeling let me tell ya. Talk to ya soon and good luck! Kim
